Thread: Help with omaha h and h/l

Default Help with omaha h and h/l

Does anyone have any tips, pointers or help in general with omaha, it seems almost alien to me. I never know what starting hands to play, I'm good at texas holdem nl and l, stud, stud h/l, and razz, but this is the one weak point of my horse game.... help!

If your good at the other variants of poker, it shouldn't take you to long to pick up Omaha-hi/lo.

You understand odds, if you play limit well
so just go back to the drawing board, and see which hands play out better when holding 4 cards. Also take a look at what the average winning hand is..

Omaha Hi/Lo is a little different, and great place to pick large amounts of cash, because of other players not wanting to ever fold. Again, look at what the best starting hands are.
You might be a little surprised what it actually is in Omaha ( hi or low )

I could sit here and tell you what are the best hands, but what do u learn on your own about the math of poker? (which by the sounds of, you should be well at)

when ur playing omaha hi, just remember that there will be a lot of ppl in the hand cause u get 4 cards and ppl want to see the flop with those cards to make a good hand. just play 2 of your cards though and the best 5 card hand wins.

in omaha hi/lo that is a whole different game. you are trying to get the best possible high hand and the best possible low hand (A-2-3-4-5, low) just test your opponents out and see how they fall

hi/lo is simple. You get A 2 or A 3 all in lol..The goal is to have the best low, and the best high to gain 100% of the pot. You can only use 2 cards from your hand and three cards in the middle. You can use the same cards for low and high. 2 cards and 3 in the middle for low and 2 cards and three in the middle for high.

Don't bet on lows, bet on high hands. low hands cost you money. If 3 are in the pot chances are 2 are splitting low 1/4 pot each & 1 is winning high 1/2 pot.

Default PLO hi lo is the shiat

OMAHA HI LO is a great game. I haven't figured out if limit or pot limit is better but i play a lot of pot limit omaha and basically u want a hand that scoops both hi and low. AA23, AKA2, A234, A452, double suited are good starting hands. But some how these hands can turn to poop after the flop. Perry Friedman said omaha is the only game where the best hand changes after the flop, so try not to raise to much preflop. A lot of money to be won in this game. Also try not to get to heavily involved if u can only win 1/2 the pot because sometimes u will only take 1/4 if u split with some one else. I suggest playing heads up, u get to see a lot more hands!

If you deposit in poker room for bonuses and know how to play Omaha i think it s a very good place to get points faster to clear bonuses..
Pots get big cause many players just called till river and also with low hand thinking they will win , so if you play well and only go when you really think you have a chance to win the hi hand , you will get your bonus clear faster
It s my opinion it s not proof

I have to disagree about NOT betting the low
your missing out on a lot of money/chips against the high hand that could fold

It is kind of hard to figure out good starting hands. For me, poket pairs are good. I mostly go in with high pairs. Also, don't go in if you have cards for only a low hand. There may not be a low hand. It's hard not to chase hands in Omaha, but I try not to very often. So for me a great hand would be AKsA2s. I'm not real strong in this game, but lately I have been playing more and seem to be getting a little better at it. Actually I prefer Omaha, but when you play HORSE you have to know h/l. Good luck at the tables.
