Default Can any one help me in Razz?

I have ventured rarely into the depths of this aggravating game. Razz in my opinion is one of the most mind wrenching games that has ever been created. Will anyone with any type of experience please let me know how to approach this game in a way that will not make you lose your mind. No matter how long you play this game i don't think you could become the best player in the world. If i am wrong in this assumption then i welcome anyone to tell me how this game can be mastered.

Default razz - mad game

razz isnt that one of those mad games that comes up when you have dealers choice and someone just wants to play something as random as brag ?

AFAICS draw and stud are like games to play like a machine, holdem is skill and cunning, omaha is holdem but more difficult to know when your ahead and all the other games are just making life so complicated that a real gambler has nearly the same chances as a player

only my thoughts mind - havent played it - stayed well away

I have never heard of the game RAZZ. It doesn't even sound like it would be a fun game to play.

Razz is one of my favorite games along with all the other Lowball games.

It’s a game of draws and is quite simple - This is one of the most profitable games online IMO because of the extra betting round and how poor most of the competition is.

In terms of strategy: Raise anytime all 3 of your starting cards are lower than everyone else’s up cards and you have at least 2 cards to a wheel.

Example if you have a 7 up and 24 inside and the next highest up card is an eight then you need to open for a raise.

For this point on its fairly simple to keep an eye on others hands and know when you have the best draw: BTW always raise when u have the best draw.. If you have 2345 and then pair 5th but your opponent is showing 478 on the board then raise. At best he is drawing to a 7 and you have 11 outs x 2 to win and if you have counted say 11 cards that give you 22/41 of drawing out and he might be snowing you and betting because you paired. If you brick 6th check and call 7th then use best judgment at 7.
All poker games involve some luck; Razz might have a little more variance than some other games but is still one of the more profitable games online.

I play Dealers Choice 40+ table hours per week and Razz is probably selected 30% of the time. I love it.

This tool has been very helpful to me in Razz. I came across it the other day and I'm so glad I did. For those of you who appreciate odds calculators this is the only one I know of that supports Razz.

http://twodimes.net/poker/?g=r&b=&d=...2d+3h+8c+Ks+ah

The URL is long because I left a sample hand in the code, it took me a while to figure out how to use this the first time until I found a url with a sample hand, then it made total sense.

Note to mod: I don't have any clue who owns the site, it does have one PP banner on it but I thought it was a helpful link for razz players and worth posting. If it’s a problem feel free to remove.

Default link t orazz odds calc

hi Jim

no worries - links like this to other sites are fine

4kingpoker won't have all the info on everything and there are many great sites with great resources worth linking to and helping everyone out here

For everyone elses info - posting links like this is cool as are links to funny stuff (in general forum) etc

It's links posted by interested parties purely to offer either bonuses or another forum which they run basically offering nothing that we don't offer here - basically if your trying to make money out of the link - dont post it

if you've found something genuinely useful - do post

nice find Jim - most of the odds calcs are holdem only (like ours over at Badbeatornot.com) so this will be really useful

cheers scrawnybob

its also my problem , i dont know how to play razz , i played it twice i think but still cant understand it. first time i played it and i had a flush and lost , so then after that time i know that flushes are not good to play at razz . i think the lower your hand is the better it is.

Flushes don't count against you in Razz, neither do straights.
The nuts are a2345.
You use 5 cards to make the lowest hand possible.

a23910 (This hand is a 10 low)
beats a234J (this hand is a J low).

If both players have same low it goes to the next card.
Example:
a2357 (7 5 low)
a2347 (7 4 Low)

The 7 4 low beats the 7 5 low.

If both players have the same higher low card and same second higher low card it will be determined who has the lowest by the third, forth or fifth cards (going as deep as needed till the card is not matched).

There are other lowball variations of the game where flushes and straights do count against you but typically these games are no called Razz but sometimes the term Razz is used for these games (but it’s rare).
