I think you will find that AA22 dbl suited is regarded as the best starting hand in h/l . The real important rule is don't play danglers and watch the other players as some will only raise or even call when playing for high while others will pot raise with A2 and only play for lo.
I really appreciate this thread. When I enter a HORSE tourney, I tend to only play the RAZZ and Hold em parts because my attempts to play the other games always tax my stack.
not much because the nice thing about those hands is that if they don't hit you can throw it away. if you have AAKK double suited and the flop comes 789 rainbow, you may not be able to get away from it, or worse yet if you hit a flop like A23 make a set, but are vulnerable to the wheel. you might lose your whole stack on that one.
As for the statement that I made about playing anything to the flop, i was speaking metaphorically. obviously i wouldn't play a69q off for anything but the big blind. but in hi-low if i have a289 off, i might try to see a flop. i have also found in a lot of the lower limit games, many players don't know how to play after the flop, and so if they have a pocket pair, but i can see a cheep flop, i can snap them off.
I agree with you when it comes to A289 in Hi/Lo I think that is so true when it comes to playing that hand. it can really help you but can hurt you too. i hate it when someone comes up with a 45678 for both hi and lo and you get screwed with it. Sigh. for Omaha Hi AAKK is good but I also like AJQK because as strange as it sounds straights come up quite often in omaha. and to have a high straight like 910JQK that is a good set of cards to have in the hold.
