Thread: Best OMAHA hand?

  1. #1

    Default Best OMAHA hand?

we know in poker we have best hands like AA or AK and worst hand of 7 2 off suit.. etc.. but what is the best and worst hand in omaha??

In my opinion the best hand in omaha would be:

    Ad Ah Kd Kh

u start with 2 high pairs and 2 flush draws

    and worst hand...

    7h 2d 8c 3s

this has no flush draws, no pairs, low card..

    post your opinions..

I don't know what's good because I'm not too familiar with it, but I saw some guy in a pl game end up going all in because he had 2222 as his cards thinking they were good.

Yes the Best hand is certainly AAKK double suited.
Ignoring suits the top 10 starting hands are:
    AAKK
    AAJ10
    AAQQ
    AAJJ
    AATT
    AA99
    AAxx
    8910J
    KKQQ
    KKJJ

In Omaha Hi/Lo we got a whole different set of hands, while 8910J is the 8th best hand in H Only its one of the worst hands in Omaha Hi/Lo.

Yep. And for those who didn't know, AA23ds is the best starting hand in HiLo.

my favorite hand in omaha hi is 8910j double suited. i'm a sucker for it because it seems to always hit for me. in high low, it's aa23 double suited. but i like to play about anything to the flop.

.. and how much money have you lost playing omaha according to this "strategy"?

not much because the nice thing about those hands is that if they don't hit you can throw it away. if you have AAKK double suited and the flop comes 789 rainbow, you may not be able to get away from it, or worse yet if you hit a flop like A23 make a set, but are vulnerable to the wheel. you might lose your whole stack on that one.

As for the statement that I made about playing anything to the flop, i was speaking metaphorically. obviously i wouldn't play a69q off for anything but the big blind. but in hi-low if i have a289 off, i might try to see a flop. i have also found in a lot of the lower limit games, many players don't know how to play after the flop, and so if they have a pocket pair, but i can see a cheep flop, i can snap them off.

big difference in omaha to holdem is no hand is a massive favourite over another unlike holdem wher u can be 80% fav

i prefer JQKA double suited. With AAKK alot of the time you need to hit one of your aces Kings or the flush tro win with so many callers

Absolutely.. The normal double-pair suited cards are great, but alot of people that are new if you find a good table, and even some more experienced, do tend to overplay the AA or KK on a "weak" board. So I love playing the 67TJ type hands that are right the middle and rarely miss getting a straight draw.
