I like Razz, but I always play the first few stud hands of a HORSE game as Razz, because I am distracted and miss the change!!

i started playing razz last night and definitely noticed it is even more tedious than hold em. i probably played too many hands, but i did pretty well. so i moved up. and got crushed. so i'll start back at the lowest limits tonight and see how things go.

will definiltey look forward to playing the razz freeroll on carbon. are there any others out there? seems like a good way to learn the game.

    a question:

is raising on an early street throwing away money? i got dealt A23 and tried to get as much money in the pot as possible. i then went like K Q J and had to toss my hand after building up the pot. so i'm thinking it may be smarter to not build a pot until you actually have a made hand (different than hold em for me, where i like to play aggressively with a four-flush or an OESD).

    thoughts on that?

Raising helps your win odds by eliminating poorer hands but keeping them around could be better for the pot.I think a compromise is best.Wait for the fourth card and if its 8 or lower then raise. The odds are then 2/1 in your favour to make a good hand. Also you will be playing very few hands which could help with the odd bluff on the river as your table image will be very tight.

Good luck and hope you report back here.

I got my first experience with RAZZ during the carbon HORSE freeroll. I actually looked up the rules online and it took some time to adjust to look for those low hands. It was also hard because I was learning omaha hi/lo at the same time... TOO MANY RULES! but now that I have adjusted I really like the game.

you would think this would work, but it clearly doesn't. i've been 3-bet holding A23 with the 3 showing when I raise and a guy will 3-bet me with a 10 in the door then catch running cards when he can't fold to beat me. very frustrating. i love it though.
