  1. #1

Default Why should you leave when you get say 3X max buy in?

I can never work it out,why is it?

Is it because people bet over the ammounts they should be doing? cause thye have a big stack, they bet out of proportion?I mean i prefer being over maz buy in, more confidence, and i still play as tight?

    anyone else agree?

Playing poker should be like buying shares or attending an auction. Unfortunaltely players confuse themselves and mix the two. eg. When buying shares you determine how far they either rise or fall before you sell them. When attending an auction, you determine the max price you will bid for an item. When I play ring games, I set myself a target, when I triple my buyin or lose 2/3 rds of it, I leave the table. The problem arises when you hit a streak and pass your win level to leave and start playing loose hands eventually donking off your hard earned dollars. Just the same as the auction scenario where you pass you max level and pay more than you wanted to, or getting greedy when the share you bought passes the increase level you set to sell because you got greedy and the next thing you know the company goes pop and your share is worth nothing. Set limits and stick to them in other words.

WHO told you to leave the table when you have X3 max buy in? lol

It's my guess that this advice you heard, involved a specific plan for someone who was going to start moving up the limits(ie jumping from 5c/10c games up to 10c/20c,when they 'banked x3')

I would agree with you about having an advantage, and staying put!
Especially if it doesnt affect your play and you always play at the same limits.

You misunderstand, I play mostly 25c 50c Razz and buyin for $20, when I hit $60, I leave, when I'm down to $5 I leave.

i understand just leaving when your stacks nearly gone - i think reading what you guys have wrote, it depends wether you get greedy when you have much more than the buy in - i for one am good at mainting my level.. i always think, if i had the buy in ammount, what should i bet, not what % of my stack would i bet

Right on I get what your saying, but Razz is always limit. The reason I quit when i'm down to $5 is because if I have dropped that far, it ain't my night pure and simple. On the other side I've left when after sitting down 5 outta 6 bring ins are mine, tyvm bye bye.
