    Question stars/absolute similarities

anyone know why pokerstars and absolute poker software have so many similarities? it's like it's the same exact software but with different skins....same sounds, same looking chips, the way the cards and chips move...even the buttons and the last hand replay visualizer looks the same. what's the deal?

I think that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and PokerStars is the market leader, so they have tried to imitate it. Sadly they got a number of things wrong, such as UB showing the amount you are raising instead of the total amount you are betting. For me at least, the PokerStars software is a lot better than the UB software. Same goes for the customer service.

Yeah and unsurprisingly you also seem to get the same bad beats and river suck outs at AP that you get at Stars. Pity they couldn't get that bit wrong....

Dont single out just one site, BB & SO happens at all sites you play at. IMO the leading cause of said SO or BB is poor decisions. BTW. The BB & SO phenomenon also happen in live games.
I wouldn't be caught dead at Absolute or UB.

Agree with the 1st part, but as for PS the suckouts there are far worse the AP/UB, we'll see how you feel after 4King's PS series.

Default our games at PokerStars are HORSE games

    hi

lol - the games we have setup at pokerstars will be HORSE games so I would wager 50%+ players will have no clue how to play at least one of the variations

and probably only have the bear basics in the other games appart from TH or Omaha

I predict it will be a blood bath -

between those who can play all the games beyond the basics and those who have no real clue - those that know will probably know a suckout - those that dont know will have no clue if they should have won the hand or not - so cant moan about bad beats ;-)

BTW trust me I'm in the 50% with no real clue category

and I'm looking forward to making as many of those games as I can

    cheers scrawnybob

Do you really think one site has more suckouts than another? Does anyone ACTUALLY think this? I'm sorry to be so... up front about it... just curious

It may not actually be the site itself, more the fishy chasers that continually catch the miracle one outer, who knows? It is however a fact the a computer programmer can make or set the program to do exactly what it is told to do. Another fact is that dumb play online pays off way more times than is statisticaly possible.

I would say YES!!! some sites are a LOT worse....but then when I count up how many hands I've seen vs the suckouts...I think it all breaks down to the same in the end....they all blow lol

    Lightbulb

The greatest similarity for me between the two is not the software set-up, but the fact I really struggle for any success on both networks. I do OK on other sites, but my luck runs dry on PokerStars and Absolute.
