Default Poker Site to make the most Complete Player

I read the room reviews on this site and wonder if they are reviews from the site or just a cut and paste deal to all sites supporting certain poker sites. I signed with cake and carbon (NOT DEPOSITED JUST SIGNED UP)expecially when I read how many bad players are there. SO I figured great Ill do well and that has not been the case (but I do mainly play free rolls)

I want to become a complete player and wonder if I should be playing more at the big sites PS and FT as opposed to cake or carbon OR EVERYBODYS FAVORITE UB. OR do the big sites just offer more big names and more tournys but doenst help you game better than any other site.

AND YES I WILL BE JOIniNG YA"LLs LEAGUE PLAY OR TOURNY PLAY when it gets going again to add more dimension to my play. I just dont want to get good on cake or some other site and find out getting good on these sites doest require as much skill as PS or FT,

DOnt mind my threads Im going through a poker crisis and GOTTA FIND MY WAY

I think they are all the same. each has a look and feel. your gonna find higher traffic at Pokerstars and Full Tilt, so more players in each game.

I dont think much of cake, even tho I've won there. I like Merge best, lower players and lotsa +EV added tournaments.

But it comes down to where you are comfortable at.

Default 4kingpoker reviews are my reviews - no one elses

    hi

    Q. I read the room reviews on this site and wonder if they are reviews from the site or just a cut and paste deal to all sites supporting certain poker sites.

    A. ALL the room reviews on 4kingpoker are MY reviews and original and NOT just the rooms own reviews ... basically not everyone is going to agree with personal reviews but they are directly as a result of playing all the sites on all the networks and then assessing games and software etc on the strength of that and also balancing in things like bonuses etc

Some do need updating but are generally correct, there are a few reviews of sites I dont like but generally we've only got reviews of sites that offer something for someone

not all sites will appeal to everyone - but that is the whole point of having reviews so members & visitors can pick out the important things they are lookng for and make a more informed choice.

Q.I signed with cake and carbon (NOT DEPOSITED JUST SIGNED UP)expecially when I read how many bad players are there. SO I figured great Ill do well and that has not been the case (but I do mainly play free rolls)

    A. freerolls will be half the problem - they are donk fest at any and all sites and not something you should use for comparing quality of players at different sites - in freerolls they will suck everywhere and you will be far far more likely to be unlucky in freerolls

In the case of Cake the real money game may have tightened up a little with the sportbook / playersonly move but not so much. Carbon is also a good loose site

Cake has more traffic, more tournaments and slightly better players
Carbon has lower traffic, less tournaments but totally easy to beat cash games

its a case of finding what your looking for ... bigger sites like fulltilt & pokerstars have some advantages (traffic) but you will sacrifice easy winning games ...

or more correctly you will have to look much harder on bigger sites to find the weak players whereas on the smaller ones you can pretty much beat any of those games at your limit and go a couple higher before the standard improves

BTW this all assumes that you are a half decent or break even player - if your not then a really bad player is going to loose money at any site - thats the player not the site ;-)

    Q. I want to become a complete player and wonder if I should be playing more at the big sites PS and FT as opposed to cake or carbon OR EVERYBODYS FAVORITE UB.

    A. Fulltilt and PokerStars are fine IF you want a big site ... the games are generally a bit tougher so IMHO unless you want the big big tournaments then I've always preferred to hunt out the GOOD smaller sites ... I've made far more on sites that are NOT the big two

on the UB front - not sure if your being ironic or not, but I would NOT touch UB or absolute with a barge pole ... that is why our review links to them were taken down over 2 years ago - they went bad and havent IMHO recovered confidence in players

    Q. OR do the big sites just offer more big names and more tournys but doenst help you game better than any other site.

    A. helping your game is ok but you should be able to do the basics at any site. The most important and fundamental point of playing poker to win is ... that you play players worse than you and seek them out, while avoiding players better than you.

It really is that simple - the only real exception to that is freerolls where nobody has anything invested so its just a complete lottery (yes you can win and playing well WILL help but its such a small return for endless hours of play I dont recommend it unless you have a very very very patient nature)

    Q. AND YES I WILL BE JOIniNG YA"LL LEAGUE PLAY OR TOURNY PLAY when it gets going again to add more dimension to my play. I just dont want to get good on cake or some other site and find out getting good on these sites doest require as much skill as PS or FT,

    A. If you "get good" at cake or carbon or bodog or wherever you will be taking those skills to other sites - its not like you forget what you learn on one site when you play on another ... just be careful what you are "learning" playing freerolls - you can just pick up bad habits

however you may well find that you can beat xyz game but go up a stake or two and you cant beat those players ... that is totally common and nothing to do with sites

look at it like this ...

say I can beat the cash ring games on carbon from $.25/$.50 up to $5/$10

If I go to Fulltilt or PokerStars I know for a fact that I will get murdered in $5/$10 game (even if I was properly rolled for that stake) ...

however I used to be able to beat the FT $2/4 games and also the .25/.50 & .50/$1 but I could NOT beat the 1/2 game

so there were oddities of my game (none at the moment I play terribly on FT for last couple of years lol)

however the main point is when you try other sites dont assume that you can play at the same stakes profitably ... the key most important thing is playing profitably

if your making money on one site then dont knock it - no problem trying new sites but dont go with same expectiations

    hope thats a help

    cheers scrawnybob

YES THIS HELPS SUPER BIG TIME,

BTW yes I was trying to be funny by bringing up UB, and being new to online play, this was the only site I could find to take my card with no hassles, the sad thing is, I thought the site looked and played pretty well and then you find out you placed your whole bankroll at a site that is dispised in the community. ALl the negative talk about the place has made me rarely play the site anymore and the bad thing is that the only place I have a bankroll except for the small piece of cheese cake has thrown at me. To make matters worse, You cant waithdraw unless you have $58 minimum, $50+ $8 to mail you a check (come on now). So of course I had $53 and have trying to get up to $58 so I can get out but now Im down to $47. ( I know high rolling stuff here). SO I guess Im stuck until I donate it all to RUSS H and crew (j/k)

IM gonna take the advice with smaller SNG's and Ill try to get my foot wet again in ring games. If Im playing NL should I avoid .01/.02 tables ( I ask this because I have heard over and over that the microstakes games have elements a bot (slight slip of the lip, I meant about )that might not make those low stake tables the most desirable since your might/might not be playing a table that covers the high the low and the middle and heard that the problems are not as bad the higher the stakes. SO at /01/.02 tables , what is a good level to start ring games at where you could avoid being caught in a table of automation for the only purpose of grinding for bonuses.

funny you mentioned that about the penny tables. i was playing 1 today and lost $1.50 in no time at all. was double teamed from the start. best hand went sour on the turn 3 times. had enough of that. bots? never considered that at low stakes.
i hope you get your $47 up to the $58 for withdrawl. good luck.

See I keep hearing that its better above the .10 tables since the better ???players know what to play and when so the automated players stay at low level tables but cover all of them (6 tables only per player MAX the bot can do at once) but I heard its mainly to sit and grind bonuses non stop 12 hours a day. (now think 12 hours a day everyday on 6 tables always)

Funny how you can tell security THAT SOMETHING aint right only to be told that NO BOTS ARE ON THE SITE, I wrote back told them they better rethink that nonsense

Just of curosity say you saw something with your own eyes (just an example, nothing more) and then the site tells you that there is no way (THIS IS UB, its probably accepted pratices there)

I love the automated player defense, "YEa like they want to lose all that rake so why would they care"
