Default It seems the US Congress is inching towards legalizing Internet gaming

    Bob,

Awhile back I read a post by you (at least that's how I remember it) about the US internet gambling situation. So I thought some folks might like to read something I found today in the Philly papers.

How Congress is quietly legalizing online gambling | PhillyDeals | 07/29/2010

It's not perfectly clear based on this article what will and will not be legal, but at least someone's acting on the problem finally.

    Default Fingers Crossed

    hi

its very definately fingers crossed that something sensible comes out of all of it ... it could still very much go either way

and one thing is for sure it could vastly affect some sites in a good way and maybe some others in a bad way

no doubt the existing land based casinos in US will come out of it well if things do finally get rolling in the right direction

    cheers SB

I know alot of US players that have to struggle in the freerolls because of this legislation.

Hopefull they will sort it out for you guys soon.

Tax could put a burden on it for you though.

No doubt, since they got to help write the bill.

I see they didn't miss every single chance to steal (tax) your money.

As bad as it is now for U.S. players, no doubt it will get much worse in a very different way once they get their greedy little mitts into it.

Would be nice if just once, we had a Congress that was truly of the people, by the people and for the people.

Yah I'm a bit concerned too with how it will turn out. I'm afraid it'll get worse. It's ok here atm in Canada but of course if things change in the US we're always close to follow... argh.

HR 2267 passed the House Financial Services, it still has to go to the House then the Senate

it can be read in full: Read The Bill: H.R. 2267 - GovTrack.us

The only reason it did get passed is the amendments added and they are planning on taking security to a new level (if that is even possible for the US Govt to do anymore).

It is something that will happen and surprisingly with the economy the way it is, I honestly expected this bill to get fast tracked since its a cash cow for the treasury.

PartyPokers merge with Bwin is just one of a couple more in the works. 1 that I know off hand is still trying to settle with the US before they can consolidate with a partner, that is the new wave that we will see. The big poker sites are gonna get bigger.

    * Newest Bill to go with that will help US poker players
    S. 1597
A bill to amend title 31, United States Code, to provide for the licensing by the Secretary of the Treasury of Internet poker and other games that are predominantly of skill, to provide for consumer protections on the Internet, to enforce the tax code, and for other purposes.

I also recieved the news from the PPA yesterday about this, to me it seems like a good thing finally happening. Good to be able to play poker online without hoop jumping as part of the experience

I think it would be great too, to finally have it "legal", kinda skeptical with the terms

I'll have a look over it again and point out them out, most of the issue I believe were from the business side which I think will raise rake. I've noticed some sites are already doing it.
