Default Anonimous tables/ future of online poker?

I think last week was when talk in a topic about Cake change of nicknames 1 time every 7 days. Some people don´t like it, some do.

General idea of change of nicks is that tracking sites and tracking software will be useless, meaning players need to get back to skill and play from how you see the player in a specific game and not getting all info in a silver tray with out do anything like in tracking software.

And it looks is not that far away from happening soon.

Just yesterday read in pokerscout that Party Poker make a upgrade and now aside of rabbit/show one or 2 cards (like merge) also implement the "anonimous tables".

"Anonymous tables offer players the chance to play without a moniker or avatar, which prevents any statistics or previous history from being available to an opponent. Online players who utilize poker software tools like PokerTracker and Holdem Manager won’t have access to details about opponents, which will level the playing field for non-software users.

The concept goes against traditional game play in that players won’t ever know who they’re competing against – something you’ll never find in a brick-and-mortar casino. However, in a time when many players have become multi-tabling robots with every statistic at their disposal, the anonymous tables are a refreshing change to today’s online game."

Then today open my email and get another news from 32RED (microgaming).

    NEW: ANONYMOUS TABLES...
    Dear

We have introduced a revolutionary new concept to our poker lobby - Anonymous Tables! Whether you're a fish or a shark, play selected tables with the advantage that other players don't know your level of skill.

Anonymous Tables are brand new to the 32RED lobby and can be identified by the icon next to the table name. They are found under the Cash Tables tab and offer complete anonymity by providing each player with a temporary alias (e.g. Player 3) as well as a random avatar. Ordinary features such as player profiles, locations, buddies and notes are unavailable at these tables and related hand information contained on your playcheck will display anonymous aliases.

What are the benefits of playing anonymously?
Anonymous tables provide you with a fresh new playing field, where players are unable to track your game-play through fancy software or keep notes on how you play. It is exactly as poker was meant to be: cards, chips, money, skill and instinct – nothing more.

I'm all for any poker site that prevents usefulness of buying hand histories or a sharing hub of players data. It really is to bad players exploit data mining to the lengths of needing Anonymous Tables.

    Default agreed good thing

    hi

I agree - in principle this is to address a problem that I think I mentioned in my blog a year or so ago ...

that data mining and being able to use info from games youve never played in etc is a bridge too far and a competitive advantage too far

its is a shame that its come to this to solve the problem of multitabling robots (not bots but players playing to reams of stats on multitables)

IMHO good players deserve to win and for the money to flow to the top

but I have voiced my concern at datamining giving an artifical advantage either to good players to win more or for marginally winning players to win more with no real skill

IMHO its really important for the game to be fair ... ie not rigged to favour losing players etc (and I dont think it is) but it is equally important not to allow others to get more of an advantage than they deserve by artificial help that the majority dont have

the money flows to the winners fast enough as it is ... in my view get rid of the data mining or make it not work

its a shame that anon tables look to be the only way to break the advantage of HH software etc but maybe its a price we have to pay

I would have thought there was a practical way to disrupt the data mining on all games but I guess not

    my 2p anyway

    cheers SB

It seems like the OL poker world is always in action to find something new to offer to their users and that's what make poker OL such a different game than live poker.
This is a really good improve as i don't use any data mining hud and can't find any time to learn their use and feel like it should be restrict to work on players own mistakes and patterns, not to help knowing their opponents behaviours.
The sad part of the story, is that it's a Partypoker update...
I can't stand that soft and their MTT's structure...

Don't particularly care for the idea of totally anonymous tables, but I am against data mining.

I guess I'm a purist. When you play live you don't have data sitting above everyone's head, so it doesn't seem right that you have that advantage online.

I would like anonymous tables now. I don't use anything but poker tracker 3, and you actually have to play with the people to get stats on them. But, it would be nice to just play, without anyone having an advantage of any kind. I think it would be great to have anonymous tables. I just recently learned that you can buy hand histories. That is totally rediculous IMHO. I just think people will generally do anything they can to win. If they could somehow cheat and see hole cards (oh wait this has happened), they would. I am all about anonymous tables. When are they coming to bodog??? peace.

I love that idea but the sad fact is the players that really know how to play P_O_K_E_R will still find fishes like me quicker than I can say, RAISE LOL. SOmetimes iN MTT's I can reconize the suckers earlier on but on cash tables I rarely do and as (ROUNDERS MOVIE TAUGHT US) if you cant reconize them in 30 minutes (or is it 30 seconds) then you are the sucker. Reality is a harsh mistress. But all for gettng rid of all add on programs, if you cant use it live, you shuldnt be able to use it online

i think they need to find a way to make it impossible to get your info like that and i also don't like the whole anonymous idea either, because i do remember others from when i played against them prior times and their tendencies, so to have to play them and not be able to use my own memory really would suck but alas it's come to this to stop the HH rustlers

That's a great point. I remember people as well, I was just updating some notes on a player right before I read this post. I agree with you, I wish it was impossible to learn about other players without playing against them. Peace.

It wouldn't be hard for the poker sites themselves to neatly provide the stats on how we play for ourselves, some sites do a great job of it, Everleaf network is by far the leader in showing your own stats and FullTilt and PokerStars are the worst.

To prevent data mining could be as simple as changing a line in the hand history

Its to bad the Poker Players Alliance only wishes to help Americans instead of all poker players, they could be the ones to help force the push onto the poker sites.
