    Default Table Selection

I'm a numbers guy. I like numbers and statistics, and think there's a lot of information in them, IF you're able to sit back and think critically about them. I've noticed an interesting trend. I just recently DL'd Fulltilt, plunked down a little money, and started grinding the penny tables, as I've been doing on Pokerstars. My sample is still pretty small, but I've noticed something interesting. I'm making more money on Full tilt.

There aren't many differences between my PS and FT sessions. The ones I'm comparing here are typically in the afternoon/evening sessions at six full ring .01/.02 NLH tables. The weird thing is that I'm doing better at Full Tilt even though I'm letting their software seat me automatically. There are a couple of explanations here. One is that it's just random variance, and will even out. That's a very real possibility. The other, though, is that when I pick my games on Pokerstars, I'm somehow handicapping myself. So this brings me to my question. What are your tips for picking a good game? Do you want to see a lot of money at the table? Large pots? A high flop percentage?

For ring games I tend to watch and take notes before I determine if I will play. The players at the table should either make or break my decision, not the hourly/avg numbers as they change dramatically.

The really juicy players tend to leave tables fairly quickly, though, since they keep busting. Excellent point, though.

I look at the Avg Pot Size, flop percentage and hands per hr.I like a high flop percentage as it usually tells me players aren,t always betting POT pre-flop.Like if there is a player with 4 times the buy-in and Bullying the table I won,t sit down.
But as assistance3 said it can be misleading.I have seen high pot numbers only to find the table tame and tight. Some big players must have just left or busted out and the avg pot size hasn,t been adjusted yet.Generally sit down and watch while waiting for the BB to come around to get a table feel.

These are the players you want on your friends list, or at least listed in notepad so when you go on the poker site to play a cash game you hunt them down.

Hard to do at stars, since some of the biggest fish "hide" from being found. You have to look at each table to see who you've color-coded.

I personally like full stacks-no more than 1 or 2 sstkrs, none if possible and not a super tight table. If I flop a monster, I want to cash big, not take some sstkrs $2.
