Thread: Withdrawal Pros and Cons

  1. #1

    Default Withdrawal Pros and Cons

I've made a withdrawal by bank draft. That went well, it took 13 days.

I have to withdrawal about 150.00 which I can do with Western Union.
Moneybookers looks like a better option:
Anyone have the Pros and Cons with Moneybookers.
    Pros:
I can withdrawal smaller amounts. ($20.00)
I can use Moneybookers on most poker sites. (If not all)

    I need some Cons:??

    Default Moneybookers

Set up at Moneybookers can take a while and withdrawals will take 3 to 5 days to get to your account.

I still haven't opened a Moneybookers acc't. but am planning on it. I'm just not sure about a bunch of the details.
What I hope to accomplish by doing so is:
Move $'s off of Titan & 888Poker & move it over to FTP & Stars (but also withdrawl some too).
I deposited on Titan with a MasterCardGiftCard & am assuming if I want to withdrawl funds off of Titan via Moneybookers, I'll have to first make a deposit to Titan from Moneybookers (heard other players say this.... is this true?).
As far as 888Poker goes, I played well in a decent $1Kfreeroll, picked up 3rd place for $160.00 & have managed to increase that simply by havin' fun on 2nl tables (10-tabling them & often winning 10buyins in a 1hr. or 2,.. sometimes playin' for 5mins. 'for fun' & picking up a couple buyins (those tables are uber soft/crazy/reckless, etc.). Also playing some $20 mtt's on there. Now, for withdrawl on 888Poker I'm certain I'll have to deposit & am thinking I should do so with Moneybookers acc't (once I set one up). Read through a bunch of withdrawl info. on 888 & noticed that when making withdrawls you have to max. out the ones you've deposited with (lengthy explan. here so won't go into details..but brieflyl > if you've deposited $50 via Moneybookers, you have to withdrawl $50 to Moneybookers prior to elsewhere first.. .< something like that).
My question(s) regarding Moneybookers is : can you deposit to Moneybookers with one method & then withdrawl from there onto another (that sounded odd)... I mean > would I be able to 'deposit on there with a MasterCard GiftCard & then withdrawl to bank acc't.' ?
Also- want kind of fees am I lookin' at with Moneybookers?
ie. if I want to move $500 off a site.. what will this cost me.. & how quickly can I put it onto another site? (< & will this cost me as well?.. or do only withdrawls have fees attached?).
I used to have an epassporte acc't. (which I REALLY liked) & even had the little debit card thingy as well. It was great! (although obv. came with some fees). Money could be moved off within mins., I could walk down (500') to 7/11 store, use the ATM & have the cash in my hands in a matter of mins.! Same for putting $'s onto a poker site.
To expand a bit on a question I made about Moneybookers - am I able to withdrawl funds via a different method than how I made the initial deposit? (I realize that if I were to use a stand. credit card I could deposit via card & then withdrawl to card & have funds credited to it... but obv. this is not possible with a GiftCard). If I want to withdrawl to my bank do I have to make my deposit via my bank?
Really appreciate any replies/responses/help because I need to get onto this 'soon'.
I've actually been trying to do transfers (on a few sites that have a transfer thread) but haven't found anyone who wants Titan or 888Poker (also have Carbon $'s I need to get rid of or withdrawl/transfer etc., & not sure what to do on there either.... I haven't made a deposit on that site & am assuming I will need to prior to withdrawl? (& prob. even prior to transfer?). Have actually ran it up to 4 figures & it just sits there rotting away (I don't like the MTT lobby there & mixing games in from that site basically messes with my other games/tables...don't like the sizing of tables, "HATE" the betting box thing, etc.).
Hoping to get some decent feedback & really appreciate the response.. tks in advance.

I can,t think of any CONS with Moneybookers. The fees are very reasonable.Sure its a bit of a nuisance to set up your bank account but I appreciate there thoroughness as far as security goes.I usually deposit the Minimum ($20) when i join a new Poker site so they don,t tell me later I have to earn/play so many points for all the $$ i won BEFORE i made a deposit.Plus when you want to withdraw and click on the Moneybookers logo it knows exactly where the withdrawal is going.I ask for a cheque issued to my home from Moneybookers for $500 lets say and they charge me about $10 or less. And i get the cheque in my mail in about 5 days.
I started my Moneybookers account by just withdrawing $$$ from some of my poker accounts I already had so i didn,t have to give them my credit card number and make a deposit or anything. So yes you can withdraw from poker sites without first depositing. Its just not automatic. The site will ask for your Moneybookers acct info.

    Default Thanks for the input

I setup a bank acct. to withdraw money too. This way don't to wait for a cheque.
I withdrew from the poker site but I'm still waiting for it to show up in MoneyBookers. It's only been 24 hrs.

I setup a bank acct which requires a SWIFT-code ( International Banking Code)
I phoned the bank to get it. And account number.
Sounds easy. I'll know in a few days (after I e-mail the poker site to say, "Where's my money, man").

Default lots of questions (& sorry if I've gone off topic from orig. thread. 'related stuff'

I'm not sure if I'm understanding this correctly Rg... did you start up 'Moneybookers' by just withdrawling from a site to > Moneybookers & then that was your first deposit on Moneybookers?
I've got a few friends with money on Titan, one recently went to withdrawl funds from Titan onto his Moneybookers acc't. (he already had an active Moneybookers acc't.) & wasn't able to because he hadn't made his deposit on Titan via Moneybookers.
I know of others who > deposited to Moneybookers (to set up a Moneybookers acc't.), then made a deposit from Moneybookers to Titan (they had $'s on Titan already, but had deposited via other methods), then they were able to withdrawl $'s off of Titan to> Moneybookers (< I assumed this is/was the way you needed to do it?).

My question re:Moneybookers is > can you just deposit with say a MasterCardGiftCard to open an acc't., but then when you want to withdrawl from Moneybookers can you choose an alternate method (ie. depost to Moneybookers w GiftCard, then withdrawl from Moneybookers & have it directly deposited to bank 'or' in cheque form (paper cheque)... [cheque = check for any Americans reading this ]

I also have questions about Carbon. I've never deposited on CarbonPoker (won $2 in a freeroll to get started), and managed to build up an okay roll on there (enough to be bankrolled comfortably w BRM for $10-$20 mtt $3-$5r/a) but would now like to withdrawl most of it. I'm assuming I will need to deposit first prior to being able to withdrawl from there (which I think sucks... but is another topic). My plan was to deposit to Carbon using Moneybookers as well. Question: will I have to earn 'umpteen' pts. now prior to being able to withdrawl my funds from there? (taking this from your post above... not sure if I've understood it correctly). I've read about this kind of stuff before but never really paid much attention to it because I didn't really care that much about some of the sites I occassionally played on (ie. Carbon, Doyles, PokerTime & some others.... although did end up making a deposit to Doyles, mainly for the 'free' bounty entry promo & fortunately transferred/traded most of what I had on there... before they pulled their recent move).
"IF" I have to now earn pts. to clear my own money (which seems ludicrous to be honest... & notice that the 'Big2' don't bother with this bs ruling), ~how many pts. do I need to earn to clear my money? (if you could give me a # for say $100... & I'm assuming the amount of pts. one has to earn doesn't change for more $'s.. ie. however many pts. you need to clear $100... then you'd need to clear 5 times 'x' for $500).

More questions re:Carbon (I know alot of members from 4king play regularly on that site). I hate it that I can't just easily transfer $'s to another player. There's been just a ton of time where I wish I could've staked a few players for certain Tournaments that were running. Also, I REALLY would love to trade funds on Carbon with someone for funds on say PokerStars (< just an example). I thought about looking into the process of what's involved to have my account verified so that I can make trades, sent Carbon support an email (quite awhile ago now) but it all just seemed way too lengthy at the time to be bothered with it (it wasn't that big of a deal for me to just not bother, I didn't 'need' the money I had on there although I could've made far better use of it if I had it on other sites (sites I was actually interested in playing a bit of volume on).
To be perfectly honest, I'd always looked at 'CarbonPoker' money as bein' 'Monopoly game money' (as I'd never deposited & the site seemed kinda cartoony to me 'not real' & the processes involved for transfer seemed a bit over the top (from the little I'd read about it)). Then I reasoned "well... now you've got a roll on there, why not actually play some of the Tournaments in their lobby?" (most of my roll was won from playing in priv. tournaments). I posted a thread, asking about tournaments on there... awhile later I played a handful, thinking I could get motivated/interested in playing them.... but it didn't happen (I just don't like them & they don't fit in well with tables from other sites I'm playing on... other stuff too > ie. the betting box thing I find a bit tilting & think it fails in comparison to other sites (no 1bb increment increase w single click of mouse, or increase by 'x' bb's with scroll wheel, another > I have to mouse over the number in betbox prior to entering a bet (instead of just automatically type in the amount from my remote keypad thingy)...manually doing this sucks for me.. & then often it doesn't work well for me... I have to do it again... & sometimes again (it takes too much time & also opens it up for screw-ups/misclicks... the extra time takes away from my thought process for the other tables I'm playing on (I like to have 5-8mtts on the go at a time).
Also -> there's just not enough games running on Carbon (that I could see) that I was interested in playing (ie. $10 & $20fo with double stack) & they ran hrs. apart from one another.
I've gotten this off-topic here now a fair bit
cliff notes for last paragraph -> used to think I wanted to add some Carbon MTTs into my schedule, now realizing I don't really want to at all & only want to leave enough dollars on there to play in some priv. MTT's (ie. 4kingpoker).. and maybe the odd special MTT on Carbon (Valentines special, Hallowe'en, etc.).

Thanks to any & all who've managed to read thru all this babbling by me. Hoping you can give me some answers for: Carbon (transfers/verification of acc't), withdrawl Moneybookers (& if I need to deposit first w Moneybookers) & do I need to now acquire a ton of player pts. in order to make a withdrawl? (if so then transfer/trade would definitely seem to be the way to go.... no?)

Another sidenote re:Carbon & p2p transfers. When I wrote to Carbon support (quite awhile ago) asking about p2p transfers & then after reading the book they sent back to me about it, I wrote back to them saying that I thought they'd be way better off if the transfer process was simpler & that they'd actually get alot more business on their site (reason for me personally at the time was > I had a handful of friends who wanted to play ALOT on Carbon but had difficulty depositing on that site but were more than capable of transferring funds to me in a transfer from another site in exchance for Carbon). win/win situation for all (especially Carbon). Money that is just sitting on Carbon inactive for the most part, generating very little rake/tourney fee income for Carbon could've gone to players who'd be playing there ALOT. I suppose their reasoning is for protection from money laundering.... but am thinking that they lose alot of business as a result.
    {sorry for another de-rail here.... just more stuff coming to mind re:Carbon > withdrawl, transferring, etc.}

One last question: anyone know what the verification process is to be able to make transfers on Titan? (on an account that I have made an initial deposit.... yes.. I deposited on there prior to winning any moniezz, lol).
Will save questions about 888Poker for another thread (or maybe start a new thread re: questions regarding withdrawl funds &/or transferring funds on some of the poker sites). Incidentally, 'transfer' p2p on 888Poker was very easy (similiar to Fulltilt & PokerStars)... was able to do so without having made any deposit. Withdrawl funds though I'm guessing is not quite as simple, lol.

answers &/or your own experience/knowledge greatly appreciated. Realizing it is now time to do something about being over-rolled on sites that I'm not able to move money around on. (wish they were all as easy/convenient as Fulltilt & PokerStars).

Thanks for bearing with me thru this lengthy post - - a bunch of questions I'm looking for answers & advice on. Thanks again!

I deposit to a site with a credit card.
    Withdrew money to Moneybookers.
    That went fine.
I tired to withdraw into my bank account but they want me to verify the account?
There are a few ways to verify it. One is to verify your address which they are
mailing a code for me to enter.
So, I wait for the mail from the UK.

If I withdraw to an account it costs 2.42 CND
If I withdraw by cheque it cost 4.70 CND.

    I didn't have to deposit to Moneybookers...yet.

    That's it so far.

WOW,, I will have to come back to this.Lots to read there.I was warned about Neteller which was great and gave us Canadians like 3 months notice.I had $$$ spread everywhere so i wasn,t worried so i just withdrew my balance from Neteller.
Now i use a Presidents Choice Bank Account and i highly recommend it.Refer your sign-up to me ,, lol. There are no charges whatsoever, free cheques, unlimited card use or whatever and you earn grocery money points. But i couldn,t even verify my acct with them (SWIFT) as previously mentioned because P.C.Choice uses the RBC "Royal Bank of Commerce" to do all there transactions.Anyways bottom line is I can,t use my Bank account to move money back and forth because Moneybookers doesn,t recognize Presidents choice as a bank as the Swift number is under the Bank Of Commerce. But cheque option is fine with me.
I won some money at Intertops on the Cake network free rolling in a forum,s games. So then i later deposited some $$ from Moneybookers.I tried to make a withdrawal but they declined it telling me i had to earn XXX number of FPP before i could withdraw.Usually once you deposit to a Poker site even after you have racked up some $$$ from free rolls they will let you withdraw.I am not sure about Carbon but it would be wise to make a deposit and let it sit there awhile then try to make a withdrawal.I don,t know there rules.

    Moneybookers

Day 1 Mar 8 -- signed up on Moneybookers website
Day 2 Mar 9 -- signed up for bank transfer
you need a SWIFT code (which can get from your bank)
    and account number
Day 2 Mar 9 -- had to verify my address, they send you a letter,
then you enter the code, I'm still waiting. I uploaded a phone bill instead.
Day 3 Mar 10 -- Transferred money from poker site to Moneybookers
    -- probably took 1 day
Day 6 Mar 13 -- Tired of waiting for address verifcation to arrive in the mail
Day 6 Mar 13 -- uploaded proof of address
Day 9 Mar 16 -- Address is now verified They increase my limit to 5000 EUR...lol
Day 11 Mar18 -- transferred money to my bank account
    Day 11 Mar18 -- I was told it will take 2 - 5 business days
Day 17 Mar 24 -- money received in bank account
total 17 days, too many days

To speed up things; I should have uploaded proof of address earlier than I did (phone bill works)

Don't transfer to bank account , it was only $2.51 CAD but when the bank got it
they charged me $14.00 CAD for a handling fee.

Cheque is suppose to be $4.84 CAD.
The Cheque method would of bypassed the bank charges, If I knew, I would have done it by cheque.

    Well, that's my Moneybookers experience...

If anyone uses the cheque method, let me know how that goes.
