Default Just getting back to online poker...

I have just started an MTT on bodog, 3rd hand as I type this is a 6-8s in MP, and it goes into the muck. This is a $1k GTD, turbo. Turbo is not really my game, oh PP 6-6 in MP right now, and an all in.... Fold.... Anyways wish me luck gang... This is only my 4th session in a few months. Turbo MTT's are super high variance, I probably won't make the pay, but I am going for 1st... Peace.

Oh well. Got A-Ks, with 4 BB's, got taken out by Q-Q, which made a str8 on the river... I don't like turbos. It is all luck, no skill. Hell for the last 25 mins before I got taken out, it was all in every hand! How in the heck can you even play in a game like that?

Oh well. I'll play another tourney in a few days perhaps. I know I am the only one posting in this thread as of yet, but I was hoping to generate some discussion... Peace.

I don't mind Turbo MTT's. They're not my favourite by any means but I don't mind them... & alot of people play them poorly.
Often you'll see SNG players who transition over to MTT's will do quite well in Turbo MTT's as it shares alot of the same skill sets. (basically it's a great game for players who are good with playing stack sizes of 10-25bb's.. where you're basically looking to 3bai (re-steal shove).. open-shove... or just fold, lol. I see ALOT of players raise/folding on stacks they shouldn't be doing that with, along with flatcalling raises on stacks that really aren't deep enough to be doing that either.
Some guys actually specialize in the Turbo MTT's and do REALLY WELL at them (& quite consistently) which would lead me to believe > they're not "all about luck" (but perhaps I'm missing something? )
Turbo MTT.. gots to be ready to gambool!! Last one I played I felt as if I'd actually blown it as there were a few spots where I felt like I should be getting it in (or where I was about to reship over initial raiser/shover) but then the player beside me beat me to it (which sucked... especially when I discovered I was ahead of them both.. sigh). As the one guy (on my immediate right said.. when I made an awful fold while priced in in BB (with 32o mind you... but still... it was a 'call' but I chose to fold).... "You gots to dance man!" (this guy had profit in excess of $700k on fulltilt.. pretty sure he knew what he was talking about, lol). I ended up with a 7th of ~350 which was cool.. 'but'.. could've been better I think if I'd been 'ready to dance'.

Yeah I know you are right it is not all luck, but very difficult if the table is all in every hand. Cards have to hold up if you get in the mix. I just don't like turbos. I don't know how to play them. I never get cards in turbos, and I am always playing at a table full of maniacs. Peace.

I really got back into my online groove period. Playing more live and I find myself rarely even wanting to play online. I dunno Im just sort of in a down right now and not sure how to fix myself.

Plus there is so much more I dont really know about online, like PO or beanface explain why the turbo set up sucks as oppose to traditional times per blind. I thought the whole zest to online poker was faster more and more and faster and more tables and ya know what I mean. Sorta surprised to hear beanface make a comment about turbos are all luck no skill type deal but why is this,

I want to get myself back onto an online schedule and force myself to play a certain amount a day cause I really need to be seeing as many hands as I can get, but IM like do I want to play MTTS, SNGS, or just cash games. I dont know what it is but lately I open up a online card room and just stare at the lobby and am not motavated,

I GOTTA GET MOTAVATED. I know one of my problems is online I like to play cheap but IM so fucking lazy that I dont really scan lobbys for the tournys I should play and with my falling out with full tilt IM left with poker stars as the big one and their lobby is so overwhelming. Im just whining here. MAYBE if ya want beanface if you play in the afternoon some, let me know so cheap tournies you enter and maybe Ill enter too and start trying to get back int he swing and at least Ill know someone playing in something, that goes for you too PO or anybody else.

Hey Dan. Thanx for that reply. I am with you dude about live vs. online... I don't like online nearly as much as live. Plus, I feel the money just doesn't feel as real. You can't hold the money in your hand after you win...

After I played that All-In fest MTT, I hit the 10c25c table. I bought in with the max ($25), and this is above my bankroll. I just don't really care about my bodog BR right now. Like you said Dan, I really have no interest in playing online lately.

Anyways, I bought in for $25. I was patient, and there was a bluffer at the table. I trapped alot, and played very tight. I was only there for maybe 30-45 minutes, and checked out with $60.

I decided to play a HU match for $5. I lost the first, and the guy really was pushing me around. I agreed to the rematch at the end, and so did my opponent, and we played again for $5. I totally dominated him the 2nd game. The hand I won with was K-6 or K-7suited. I flopped a flush draw, he made a cheap c-bet. He always c-bet. I just wanted to trap this guy with his mediocre hands. Well, BAM I turned the nut flush. Check... Action to him, he bets $420 into around a $200-$300 pot. I quickly check raise him all-in. The guy contemplates for the whole clock, then calls. He had mid pair on the flop, and was drawing dead, and he still calls. People never believe you.

They always c-bet and try to push me around HU. I am terrible at HU play, but I feel I have made a small step forward after this match. I saw how this dude was playing, and exploited it. I think he was growing very confident in his ability to push me around. He started making off the wall raises and bets before my successful trap for all his chips. I then declined the rematch and took my $5 back and ran. We both lost 50cents for the rake. $5.00 + $0.25.

I think because of the fact I just don't give a damn, and I am not trying to win, I had a good session earlier. HU I didn't care about the money, and just did my best. Cash table was different. I was at a loose/agressive table, and played the opposite. Super tight, super passive. It worked. I doubled up from Q-Q, flopped a set, he bets first. I raised him on the flop. He leads out again on turn, I raised all in. My opponent called over $25 total, with top pair, and he was holding K-Q offsuit, OOP and I raised preflop. This is a perfect example of when not to play two painted cards OOP. If a tight player raises you, he probably has better than K-Qo, right? Anyways, food for thought... Peace.

I don't like to play live as the local card room feels like a locals only type of vibe ya feel me ? I am also getting to not care about online so much anymore either, i will get in a game and after a little while not care what happens anymore so maybe it's time to hit the ponies again and give poker a short rest again ?

Many of the charity poker rooms have this feel by me. All the same cats, all the time. I don't like that either.

But, fortunately, three casinos are 45 minutes away from me. If I ever want a good game (lots of gamblers), I go there. I see some faces repeatedly, but there are always new people in there. I haven't been there since xmas/new year time, though so maybe I don't even know. If I had BR, and the correct frame of mind, I would be doing this now. Peace

wb beanfacekilla, hope you can get on an early upswing on your return to online poker.

    turbo's can be fun
I normally have 4 SnG's at a time when I feel geared into playing them
    haven't actually done turbo MTT

Merge Network has All-In or Fold MTT that are fun too

Did I mention that almost in the time of one of my longer post I could be at my card room. Now I just wish I could always win money there.

Im gonna get back in the swing of online, cause I gotta get my odds stuff right in my head (check my odds thread or league thread as I made a cal tonight I thought was good but seem to be the odd one out LOL)

ANy of yall wanna play to help ( iknow people like BEAN and Assistance and PO dont need much help but I do) maybe we could all set up a home game and then chit chat about the way some of yall handled hands and the way I played hands. I aint talking about make a fortune off each other but we could throw some low stakes for fun and for me learning

I dunno Im just throwing up ideas I wanna be able to make money at my card room regularly but feel I could probably get my game tighter online, But I read the books it seems to make sense and then I do things totally the opposite. Well anyone on the site think about it, and maybe we could set it up, if we could discuss it later
