what is everyones strategy for freerolls ? I play them occasionally as I want to build up to playing MTT from SNG's but freerolls always seem to be a bit of a bun fight.I see players going all-in with all sorts of hands and getting called. should I be going all-in on the high pairs JJ QQ KK AA hoping to double up early or just play a patient game guard a small stack for the first hour and then play looser ?
I've done OK in some of the small re-buy tourney's but I want to start playing as many freerolls at lots of sites as I can
Alot of people play and call all ins early in the trny b/c trnys are time consuming so you want to start off early with a good stack. i play all different ways so i dont have a set stratergy lol
I like to sit out the first few rounds of a freerolls people never let their hands go! Or they call with absolutely nothing first hand of a freeroll on titan yesterday 1k kids. I get dealt AA three people were playing the "all in game" I call. Get beat by 4 7 off he flops a staright.
while u might get unlucky once in a while, you should be licking your lips with kk or aa especially early. This puts u at worst in about a 80% odds to win (assuming u dnt have kk and ur opponent aa) I think alot of times u will see calls of hands like 4 7 which will put you on great odds (around 90%). people will go allin with garbage early so take a chance to double up and if you lose the good news is you didnt waste any time! lol
Yeah, i do it occasionally i'll admit because the freerolls are time consuming, especially when they have over 300 people, and sometimes you have better things to do with your time. Maybe i'm leaving within a half hour to go somewhere and i might try to gain some chips real quick and hand the tourny off to my friend while i leave, or something along those lines.
Hi.
Here is my take on the free-roll all-ins... it is never worth it to me to go all-in the first hand. More than likely the jokers who continuosly go all-in early, will continue to do so and eventually get beat out fairly early on in the tourny. Now if you play a tight aggressive game you will have the disclipline to fold even those gorgeous hands early on...it is quite common that someone else will do the calling for you and you will see all about what the other players at your table are about...(at UB you can even take notes to refer to later on some people like "fish" "early all-inner with crap" "tight aggressive...good player...courtious...good fun match"). By waiting out you understand your table, the people, and then you can feel comfortable calling, raising, or even going all-in. You may not have the biggest stack the first hour of play, but you are still in the tourny, and much of the phony play will be eliminated.
Paradise freeroll has between 2000 and 4000 players. I tend to play tighter than usual, but always get called by idiots, some I win some I lose. Just called JJ all in, all fold bar 1, AK...J on the board and thank you. Next hand may not be so lucky.
The basic idea should be 'I Think' keep out of trouble at the start, but it could be an hour on the bigger sites before there are only 'Good' players left. By that time you might be very short stacked.
Software tends to be a factor - Paradise tends to give KK & AA together too much, also Big Slick isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Exaclty i try to play very tight in freerolls....... theres to many times where people dont care cause they did not have to put $$ up.....
i think that a good strategy for freeroll is to wait, be patient, even if you have a good starting hand (you can lose it against a 2-9 unsuited but lucky)
thoses players who like early all in never come over 3-4 levels blind; so take it easy and after "the wawe"start playing normally
