Default CrazyBadBeats in online poker

I am not one of those people that get aggravated when people complain about bad beats, at least not after the STRING of bad beats i have been given since playing online poker..Long gone are the bad beats on the felt, Higher fullhouse then mine..no forget that....before playing online my worst bad beat was losing with 4 7s, to 4 10's but that was in caesars Atlantic city and it was 7 card stud where each player is dealt there own cards, so even though it was horrible, and ass salt to the wound, the little asian guy said, "I have TWO PAIR" when he tossed the 10s over...still nothing compares to the Heads up tourney i was in on Bodog two months ago...i was dealt Pocket kings..Woo hoo...finally right...flop comes King clubs 7 hearts 8 hearts..this guy leads out and bets half his stack....Now any poker book i have ever read says, if they are on a flush draw slide em all in and see if they really wanna pay their whole stack on a draw...well he called immediately turning over 9 hearts 10 hearts....wow...even though i thought it was a lotto ticket draw...it was only a 50 dollar heads up match so .....here we go Turn card King spades...YEsssssPAY DIRT.....i win.......River.....Jack hearts.............wow..did this just happen, is candid camera taping me??? whenever i retell the story i feel the stab in my gut as if it just happened.. I was so mad i wrote them an email complaining and saying the least they could do was send me a hat..in most major casinos i would have walked away with a bad beat jackpot....they told me, WE WILL THINK ABOUT YOUR SUGGESTION...woo hoo......

Default damn unlucky

hi

you were damn unlucky - starting ahead, then right ahead then lossing

but guess as it's heads up play he wasn't so off calling - preflop suited connector and then he got just about the best flop he could ask for

improving to have both a flush and a straight draw (and a poss straight flush)

Actual odds on your two hands - your 64% favourite to his 36% (after the flop)

BUT

It's heads up and he can't see your cards but could caluculate odds on you possibilities - my guess is he called on a draw with alot of outs because he put you on

King + kicker

say he puts you on KA that makes you both 50% 50%

You were ahead but not so massively after he took some guesses at your hand
just IMHO though

If it had been a couple of places off the money I bet he would have laid it down if you'd shown interest - heads up he gotta gamble

cheers Scrawnybob

I wouldn't class that as a bad beat. When the money went in you were 58% against his 41%. That's almost a coin toss as to who will win!

Once you make quads, he drops to 5%, which could class as a bad beat - if you'd gone all in on the turn.

There's no doubt it's a cruel way to lose, but you will lose that confrontation almost half the time. As for how he played the hand - scrawnybob is right, he played it well. Big combo draws like that are often well ahead (if you've just got a pair of kings for example).
