Default don't sign up if you don't intend to play

Last night I played the 4kingpoker tourney at Full Tilt. There were 420 people signed up. I don't know how many were sitting out, but at my table there were 8 out of 10 sitting out. Yes I got alot of blinds. This is my problem with it-- For the first 1 1/2 hours I'm just taking the blind money, maybe playing a hand here and there. Finally a s.o. gets replaced by somebody with 3 times as many chips as I have, or in many cases it was another sit out. So frustrating not to mention boring. Don't sign up unless you know you are going to play, please!!!!

I hear you on this. The other day I played in a freeroll with a $1500 dollar prize pool and there were about 700 people signed up. I flopped straights the first three hands with low cards on unraised pots pre-flop and ended up with about 7000 chips. I got moved to another table with 7/10 people sitting out.

Again, the cards were just falling my way, and I busted the two live bodies out in about 5 minutes. From there I had nothing but sitouts for over an hour. I went through one break, and didn't have any warm bodies at my table until around 15 minutes left to go before the second break. 13 times in a row I got outdrawn on these sitouts' all-ins. I couldn't get rid of these guys! 3 in a row on their all-ins I went up against pocket kings. Most of the rest it were coin flips, a few I had them dominated. But it took me forever just to bounce these guys out, and then they were just replaced with more sitouts.

By the time I got real people at my table (still only 3 out of 10 of us were there), there were only 200 players remaining (top 100 or so made the money), and all of about 4 hands actually went to the flop and then the second break hit. I picked up over 10,000 in blinds, plus what I'd picked up from the few hands I got to play with real people, so I had almost 30,000. But after the second break in a 700 man tourney I should have been a ways above that.

In the end I got paid off well enough for my time, but it was just ridiculous with all the sitouts. With all these 2000+ person freerolls where first place takes 10-20 dollars, why would someone sit out of a 700 man tourney with first getting almost $400? Crazy. poker sites need to have an auto raise 1bb checkbox for when you're at a table with a bunch of dead beats. All the sitouts joining spread the money pool to more players, which i guess is good for those that barely made it into the money, but jeez...

Default sitouts

hi Jeff

yep sitouts are a pain -

the password for this game was sent out to everyone in the forum regardless of posts as a bit of a Christmas present in the hope that some more members would see we are now h
aving regular monthly games at Full Tilt and PokerStars and get them to be a bit more active

trust me from the New Year the passwords will not be going out to members unless thay have the min 5+ posts

unfortunately we also have a couple of members who play Full Tilt and Titan who are consistently giving the passwords to non members - which means more registrations and therefore more chances of sitouts

It is a pain - but I think looking at the stats you had alot more patience than me last night ;-)

cheers scrawnybob

Now do you see the important of giving out the password 1 hour before a game? Some forums do it.

yeah i agree with that, the best thing is giving the passwords 1 or maybe 2 hours before the start. Thats grate because if u really want to play the tournament u have to come here get the password and sign up just in time to play it.

Yeah I'm a member at some of those other forums that do that. It sometimes works and other times doesnt. I also think that the 5 post minimum is not enough. It should be more like 25 or 50.......

To me sit outs are free blinds. In your situation Tragic, I'd love to be picking up all those blinds. Just min raise as fast as you can to build up your stack slowly with blinds.

I love it when they come back from sitting out and catch you. They go all in......

One time I was at a table where I was blinding everyone out, and I took this one player all in. He made a Royal Flush on me..........I kid you not......I was stunned...........
