i like it, better than anything else on at that time. not the best poker show though.
Its just a high stakes sit-n-go. What amazes me though is how bad some of the pros play the sit-n-go format. No understanding of the most basic S-n-G strategy.
If get home from work in time i definitely watch it, wont watch the reruns though seen them all, I like when phil hellmuth is on to see how many minutes it takes him to start in on how great a poker player he is usually doesn't take long.

"You shouldn't let the strength of your hand affect the size of your raise. A tough poker game is like real estate.
The three most important factors in deciding how much to raise are: Location, location, location."
Chris Ferguson
Especially that one time, phil hellmuth raises and one guy calls , flop comes something with aces , and the guy has full house, and phil had a lower pair in his hand , but it was a nice hand , suddenly phil raises him and he called the last bet, and then the guy turns over his winning hand , and phil wants to muck his hand, and then he starts to go , NOO you most show your hand , what is not true .. i mean phil hellmuth knows all the ffs rules in poker, how does someone judge him to show his hand , i mean imao , you know what the problem was , they thought it was fixed , and phil helmuth was holding two aces , making quads, but he never showed , he explained the ffs rules, and they still wanted to see his hand, phil was pissed so bad omg ...
But lol ye i love poker after dark, jonny chan is very good in it !
i enjoy watching this show quite a bit, too. one thing i prefer about this show compared to others, is that they show ALL the hole cards in the hands shown, even the mucked ones.
i'm still a student of the game, so it's interesting to see how others play the game, and i find it helpful to see, not just what people decide to play, but what they decide to muck in certain situations.
granted these are pros vs. pros (most of the time), so they do some creative playing in an attempt to fool each other, which may go against the "correct" play strategy.
i think another reason for the skewed playing styles is that, the stakes are not that high for most of these pros. although $20,000 is a nice chunk of change for most of us average joes, for the top poker pros, that is like pocket change, so they may not always be playing too focused and would try some funky moves for the tv.
i think that's why there seems to be more focus and high level of competition on high stakes poker.
and finally (wow, this is getting long... bear with me), i like the concise commentating. the banter in the WSOP coverage and high stakes is entertaining, too, but i like how the how they just let the players talk it up in after dark, with only the occasional comment here and there. on the other hand, i find WPT waaaaaaaaay too much... i'm sure, if u like the whole show biz bells and whistles it could be fun, but i find it pretty annoying.
