Default The worst thing about online poker.

I hear a lot of complaints about online poker. The bad beats, the theory that the sites are rigged, the large amount of donkeys playing, the difficulty in reading players online and I am sure many more that escape me at the moment. But I never hear anyone talk about the worst thing about online poker.

Misclicks.

I don't know about the rest of you but I've never accidentally gone all in or folded a winning hand at a live table. I don't even want to think about how often I've done one of those two online. And of course if you accidentally go all in with say 3/9 offsuit everyone thinks you are the donkey of all donkeys. Try to explain it was a misclick. No one ever believes you. Or if you did have the winning hand and you fold, if the opponent was bluffing or bullying he'll think you are weak and start pushing all the time.

So what I am wondering, since I never hear anyone else complain about them, am I the only one? Does no one else ever go to hit a button only to have the tables suddenly switch with catastrophic results? I suppose I could avoid a lot of them by not playing multiple tables...but most of the time that works out just fine. It's just that when a misclick does happen it can devastate your game.

Am I really alone on this? Somebody please tell me it happens to them too.

Yeah it happens. I might do it about once a month. Luckily never in the later stages. Just gotta watch it. Of course my poker tournament career started with a misclick. My very first tournament on pokerstars (first tournament anywhere) some 6 and half months ago, I was so excited that after 4 people went all in, I also accidentily misclicked my all-in button. I won that first hand, and the poker rush from that got me hooked on poker forever.

Default misclicks

I used to have a lot of problems with that, not as much anymore because I usually play on FTP and they let u tile tables. I can fit four games on my screen comfortably so I can see them all at once when I play multiple games and or tourneys

good thread!

i use wireless keyboard and mouse (always keep spare betteries nearby) and i found that now it happens to me less... + i play daily at carbonpoker and unlike FTP software, the all-in move for instanse is 1 click so you need to be twice careful playing there.

beats... yes had 1 yesterday. so i get pocket jacks utg+3 and make a standard x4 raise. two callers flop comes 10 4 4. they both check and i bet 1/3 of the pot since it is a cash game and im pretty comfident having the best hand at the moment.... so 1 caller the other folds.

9 comes on the turn and he fires some kind of bet. i re-raise and he pushes. i call.

he had 10 9 to give him two pair weeker than my two pair (JJ 44) and the river is also 9 to give him a sailing boat.

reload jacks

The two most upsetting things about online poker have gotta be the accidental misclick and getting disconnected. There have been several hands where I accidentally bet when trying to check or fold. Once in a freeroll, I got disconnected and somehow round up calling an all-in for 3/4 of my stack with 97 and lost. Needless to say that I was pissed and would have been even if I had won the hand. Also lost a pot in a ring games with the top two pair and accidentally folded when trying to raise. The pot would have been upwards of $80 at a .25/.5 game. The other factor I don't like online is you cannot see your opponents expressions after hands or pick up reads like in live play.

Smile worst thing

I have missclick and folded. That was bad at times because I wanted to do something esle and would have won a big hand, but sometimes it saved me a lot of chips. Basicly it is your hand to play the way you and all other opinion dont matter. Their are good plays and bad plays only in relation to other players hands. This is poker. Then worst thing I experience is the lack of couth, the foulmouth loser. I see these players make bad choice in their allin play then try to rectify their lack of good judgement with bad.
As for the 9-6 allin play I dont particuliarlly like this hand but you can win with it with connectors. Each card has a equal chance being in flop except for cards in the others hand if that make any sense. Good luck in your play and your assessment of your hand is what matters. Feels good to you play it out!

You are not alone I have done that multiple times when I play on multiple tables. When you think your checking or calling on one another screen pops up and you don't have time to react before it is to late.

It's true. It's true. Those misclicks make you hate the computer, hate yourself, and almost hate poker. Sometimes I've made them just sliding over to to check. So sad to call an all-in with something like 83o. And disconnects are also very, very bad. I' ve had just a little one right in the middle of a big transaction hat I am sure was the reason for me losing the game. But....you just have to weigh the cons against the pros, and I think I'll still play on the internet.

Default Im now patient

I use to misclick every now and again but i now play slowly instead of just clicking call with a decent hand as soon as i see it i wait until it is my turn to see just how much im really calling. I recently called a large bet like 500 when i thought it was still 50.
LOL
