I have seen this happen many of times and I think its so unfair. I had an incident happen to me when I was playing at a poker table and someone swore at me in Italian and little did he know I understood exactly what he said and brought that to his attention and he was quiet after that!!!!!!
OK I know there is a lot of different cultures of people out there and some might not speak english at all. So I would understand if they didn't know the language. You can't expect everyone to know it. I do understand your point though but usually there is more than just two people at the table who are from countries other than the United States or England. Which are the two major english speaking countries. I just think that cheating is cheating wheither you speak english or not. Whether its on msn or not. It's cheating and it won't result in anything positive. You shouldn't do it plain and simple.
Did they respond to your message ?
You can't do anything about it, just focus on your own game and try beating the crap out of them
They don't want to play poker, it's their fault.
yea its a shame that there are people who would try to cheat out there. the worst part is there is nothing to be done about it. even if they find a way to stop IM they will find other ways. i mean its as simple as picking up the phone. i guess thats the price we pay for online poker.
As far as I know most sites have progrms that check for collusion, ie players that play at the same tables and the plahy of hands shows that collusion is a possibility. this wont stop intermittent colusion but would catch blatent violations.
I think that collusion goes on a lot more than we realize. It would seem like an impossible thing to stop given the mass amount of communication that exists today. I realize some sites prohibit more than one person from the same IP accessing the games together, but this only slows the numbers. With chatrooms and messaging systems, there is bound to be much discussion of hands.

Well, I'm guilty of the occasional off English chat in the box. I grew up in Europe and live in the US now, so it's nice to say hi when I see that a player at the table is from the old country. After a few sentences I usually switch to English so no one gets bent outta shape. I think if someone was to cheat/collude, they wouldn't use the chatbox at the table though. Why risk it in any language? Words like "king" "ace" and just about any number is way too easy to pick up on even if it's in a different language. Also, even in a separate IM, how much do you really gain? Maybe a bit here and there, but you can also screw yourself thinking you have information that matters and run yourself into a monster hand from another player.
I once had one of the IM colluders type in the game chat instead of his IM chat window.
'Fold, I got KK'
I replied wrong window? They both left the table after that... this collusion will always occur online, be it IM or on the phone two or more players can always communicate their cards to each other. I get more angry over the obvious chip dumping to keep the low skilled partners in the tournies. OR the other old one where they sit away from each other and the first guy bets, get a caller or two then the other guy raises...first guy re-raises and so on until all other players fold then they take turns folding the pot to each other. That is my favorite, because if you play super tight, you can catch two fools capping down the bets when you have the nuts...they will raise it to the river than check if they got nothing...you can easily make a profit playing super tight against these guys.
