i would just call for the reason given by others. its a good starting hand but plenty beatable. this way if the flop is no good you might get out still kicking. besides that i hate going all in pre-flop. though ive done it and will again im sure it feels like leaving a game of skill to a coin toss.
its a very difficult decision, one that probably separates winnesr from losers.
on the one hand, you have about 15 BB. on the other, you said you are in 29th out of the 38 left. i try not to worry about the latter. with 15 BB, I think you can afford to call, fold or reraise.
unfortunately, i've already read what happened. my initial reaction was to do what you did - allin. but the person who pointed out that you are only getting called by a hand that beats you is correct - which is why the options go down to calling or folding.
there are two players left to act. i assume, they are the SB and BB.
are you good enough to fold if either comes over the top of you? if not, then folding is the right option.
the other advantage of calling is it gives you the chance to use the stop and go possibly. kk might fold if you push an A-high flop.
I choose the two options that have raise.
You didn't say anything about the stack from the two players left to play, but in a standard hand I go allin to force the HU against the short stack.

The guy on my left is the largest stack
UPDATE: Got booted again from a tourney yesterday using 99 lol. This time I was 22/23 though. Top 13 get paid. Got 99 All-inned, biggest stack called with AJ of-suit and flopped an A.

Seriously I get knocked out of more Live Tournaments with 99, 88, TT, than ANY OTHER hands in holdem, 7 times in 2 months with 99. I won 1 in two months with 99 thats playing 5 tournaments a week LIVE.
Just for interest the one I won 99 v AA flop 922 and he wasn't happy with me putting him allin for 18k ROFLOL ( he's not talked to me since!) I ended up cashing £900 + change after droping the Valets and Dealer 10% each. ( Brit dealers now take tips can you believe it !!!)
I think I would have folded in this situation as I don't like to call raises with that small of stack with 9-9. If I were to play it I would go all-in and hope that I'm up against a couple of unpaired face cards.

well thats rude and unacceptable IMO.
take the roulette dealer for exampe... i talked to a seniour one once and he told me he can hit at 1 of-4. meaning: if there are 36 numbers + zero, then he can hit where the numbers go in a row on the wheel say 14-17-21-23... he sais he can hit at one of these numbers every time.
its commom for them to recieve tips for a "lucky" spin...
but giving the dealer 10 percent for dealing cards which YOU played with and outplayed the others, so what is HE getting the tip for exactly?
