Default Poker Advice/Wisdom

It doesn't matter how well you can play, it only matters how well you do
play.

I agree, I think that peoples POTENTIAL for greatness is often overshadowed by series of bad choices....

If you are going to play poker, make sure you are prepared for the tough swings of hot and cold streaks. The goal I have in mind when I play is simply to play the best and live with the results. It is also good to look back on sessions at sucessful plays made and why some plays resulted in poor results. If you are playing for cash, make sure that you are not playing over your bankroll, which can force you to play different.

You can do a lot to circumvent bad swings though, it is a matter of realizing what is going on with the cards and the table and players and adjusting your play style accordingly. The really isn't any reason to play bad, poker is a skill game, yeah we all have our bad beat stories, but were they really bad beats or maybe hands that if we had read the signs a little better maybe we should have gotten away from? I can tell you that personally I would say that 95%+ of any "bad beats" I have ever taken could actually probably more accurately be described as my not necessarily putting a good read on my opponent. There are only a couple of hands in poker that are unbeatable, the others are a matter of your interpretation of the situation.

Default You have to be able to lose and not doubt.

I think if you can lose and not doubt yourself on a call or a fold. I never second guess myself on the plays I make. I never look back on a loss. I have won thousands and given a few dollars back.

GOOD LUCK

Do you always play in the same games together?

Or are you both too weak to stand alone and without the assistance of others. Don't bother, not interested.

Default What sick person thought this game up?

Let's face it,there is something very wrong mentally with poker players. We subject ourselves to ups and downs emotionally for a game we call FUN?!?But as long as you can handle the swings and stay within your limits financially the game is fun,and the more you learn and get better the more fun it gets.
