Question Hand analysis

Hi guys its been a nice summer ive been playing quite a lot and i think im playing my best game right now. Last week i read an article about the betting sequence on a hand, it was about if the line of your opponent makes any sense on a given hand or if its not. So according to that i made a pretty sick bluff on this hand. From my point of view i dont like to make this kind of bluffs very often, because ok it worked that time but we all know this kind of play its not going to work very often and i think i can make more money without that much of a risk by just having a little bit of patience.

So the thing is that guy had been pretty agressive, and he was playing back at me pretty often. I was also raising a lot of pots.

I called the flop thinking he was going to check the turn most of the times, but when the turn came and bring 4 cards to a straight there was no sense from his part to bet a straight, i wont make that call very often but on that spot i really felt because of what i read about the betting sequence that he couldnt have anything good.

And on the river... i made the raise and it worked...

WHAT DO U THINK ???? is there any sense on doing that kind of sick bluffs with ace high ????

Personally I would occasionally make a play like this as I don't see it as a stone cold bluff, more of a semi-bluff as it is very possible that you AK is the best hand. It is very possible that the other guy had something like AX, possble AJ or A10 or osmehting like that.
Obviously you would have (or should have if you'd he had been at the table for a bit) built up at least a ilittle bit of info on the player and maybe you had seen him/her lay down to big bet previously.

On this hand I like your play, personally I would have possibley re-raised on flop, if not I would have on the turn to give the impression of having hit the draw whether it be flush or straight, but at least you would know where you stood if you had re-raised an been raised back then you would know you were beat, but apart from that I've no real problem with your play.

You have to raise on the turn there....And for your opponent to fold on the river like that he must have missed everything......Not a great play, but it worked this time.....

The key to a sucessful bluff is to not do it to often and to do it at the right time. You obviously timed yours perfectly. Don't the pots you win with a bluff feel better then the ones you win with the nuts. Pulling off a bluff is just so satisfying.

Default standard semi bluff

I agree with earlier poster, you need to raise on earlier street. At the level you are playing at I would not pull this move too often, but it is ok to mix it up and do it occasionally. 5 cent 10 cent can be crushed by ABC poker playing, or atleast it could when I played there.

Dude you aint lying. If you play by the book and wait for monster hands you can get paid off. On the other hand if you try to get too fancy you are dooming yourself.......those people just dont know how or when to fold.......

I agree with earlier posters, if you have in mind a bluff then a raise in the flop or the turn is strongly recomended. Your raise in the river worked because the villain miss everything, but with a flush or overpair or even a straight (was a scary board for an overpair or straight) surely he would have played in the same way and would have paid your raise in the river.
You didn't have accurate info about if he had a hand or just bluffing, so was a bingo bluff (maybe with the benefice of readings about the villain in previous hands)
