Default Should I be happy or disappointed

Played two PokerStars tournaments today. They were FOX PS Million dollar challenges. Both were freerolls.

First had 27,500 players and paid top 10. First was $20,000, second was $2,000, and tenth was $50.

Second had 10,000 players and top 10 qualified for a chance to be on the television show.

    I finished 930 out of 27.500 and 14 out of 10,000.

Thought both were good runs, but alas neither was good enough.

Weel done they were good runs, How long were you playing ?

14th must have been disappointing as you were so close.

I don't think I'd have the patience to get pass all the early donks in fields of thse sizes. Have eough troudle in 4 or 5 thousand.

I have to agree with Al.

Really good results sir! ... but... It's better to play with cents, than freerolls for a lot of reasons. (We can talk about that if you want).
Even if you go to TV.. you are gonna play against "real" players.

Thanks! I was fairly happy with results but darn so close and nothing!

Freerolls are PokerStars are insanely fast between aggressive players trying to build stacks (in other words willing to call with any two cards they think are live and be a 40/60 dog), and the accelerating blinds.

I played both tournaments between the 2 and 3 hour mark to get to where I did.

Other than freerolls encouraging some wild plays and being so not worth it unless in final table (minimum) or top 3 to 5 (normally), what other reasons to play the cash games?

When playing field sizes of 18 to 45 I like to play $10 + $1 buy-ins or so.

When playing field sizes of 180 to 300 I will play anywhere from $5 + $0.50 to $30 + $3 depending on site and bankroll.

Fields larger than that, especially on PokerStars, I have started to shy away from. One mistake, one lucky draw by opponent, and hours of hard work can be flushed. Obviously ture in any tournament but online seems to have a lot of gamblers and as the field size increases the chances of running into one when you have AA or KK grows, and those hands only win 80% of the time :-)

    ok. I have a question.

I am trying to understand... How can you play a $30 buy-in tournament and then a freeroll?
Is there a secret? (prizepoll or something).

I am asking because seems strange to me.
