Thay can be as bad as freeroll tourneys at times. I do play them at times, but not that often. I try to stay away from them.

Yes, the players are wild in the first hour, but when the rebuy/add-on come to the end the game is like any other game.

Just need to have 1 or 2 rebuys and 1 add-on and is fine.

I try a $0.50 rebuy game today (yesterday now) with 20 people, and here it is.

So, for me the rebuys are fine

THere are definite strategies involved in rebuys... they may appear to be a donkfest to the novice but in fact there are many reasons that players are trying to get as many chips involved in play as possible.

Rebuys are meant for obtaining a very large stack during the rebuy period as these tourneys are all about deepstack play after the rebuy is over.
Sure you can try the 'one bullet' approach... playing tight and hoping to take advantage of some of the loose play in the first hour (or however long the rebuy period lasts for.. some rebuy up to certain blind levels.. ie. unlimited rebuys to level 6, etc.).

A more reasonable approach if you're aiming to win a rebuy is to expect to rebuy up to 5x. If you're not willing to rebuy I'd suggest you just play in a freezout.

Another thing with rebuys... if you're not used to playing deepstack poker in tournaments, you will be out of your element during the latter part of the tourney (it's alot of 3-betting, 4-bets... 4-bet bluffs even these days in pos.,... alot of stuff your average Joe who's used to playing with 20M isn't always familiar with).

I used to think rebuys sucked and were for total donks (ie. "How could they play like that?"). It wasn't until I'd done alot of homework on the subject and discussed strategy with some of the online pros and top players about their own particular rebuy tourney strategys.... the guys who are winning these things (one friend who won a smaller buyin one,.. the $3rebuy on Stars, made 9 rebuys in the tourney and took it down for $5,700).
Yah.. I've heard about Daniel's rebuy insanity. I heard it was 67rebuys though.. and that for it to be profitable he'd have to place on final table. I heard his comments were something along the lines of "I wanted to make sure there was going to be alot of chips on my table that I could win back once the rebuy period was over"... kinda arrogant 'eh', lol.
If you're hoping to or planning to play in rebuys, I'd suggest searching online for some decent rebuy strategy stuff... it's out there if you look for it.
