PartyPoker is a rediculous poker room. There are ALOT of fish. When I say fish, you probably think "awesome, easy to win games." Think again. It's pathetic the hands people play, what they call with, and what they can't fold. An example of hands that cannot be folded are AA, KK, QQ, JJ, 1010, 99, 88, 77, 66, 55, 44, 33, 22, AK, AQ, AJ, A10, A9, A8, A7, A6, A5, A4, A3, A2, KQ, KJ, K10, K9, K8, J10, J9, J8, J7, J6, J5 and many, many more.
To add to this, if you have a small bankroll the lowest STT tournies you can play are $3. The $3 tables are only offered in speed and turbo modes. You start with 2000 chips, and the blinds are 200/400 in just 20 minutes, in turbo games the blinds are 200/400 in 12 minutes. If you ask me, those fast games are based alot on luck, since the blinds are put up every couple hands.
You may say I'm a bad poker player ranting. Well, I am not a horrible poker player. Tell me this, how can I win on Full Tilt, but on PartyPoker I suck.
I hear you - some sites just have crazy players and that can be just as tough or tougher for players to play against and profit if you approach all sites and players in the same way
i think if you have found a certain style of play works for you and the players it works against are not total beginners of loose aggressive (ie. weak easy to beat players) then you should play at sites which have the kind of competition that you can dominate because you understand that they understand poker - if you see what I mean
certainly I find that I have to play very differently at the loose easy to win sites - because as much as you want to play a certain way - there is no guarantee you can control the table in the way you'd like
ie. you get "too many" callers at loose tables / sites
but I've found at least in the cash games anyway that the sites which boast the loosest easiest to win games do offer a good return - but it is and always will be a bit of a rollercoaster ride
I think you have to take Daniel Negreanu's approach - which is to welcome weak / bad players with open arms but to also play what I think would be termed "small pot" poker
ie. come in to alot of pots / hands if they're cheap - go for cheap draws but also play those big hands a little more conservatively - ie. reduce the number of players preflop / flop but also be more inclined to lay hands down and not try to over load the pot just because you have a big hand
personally I also like to play at sites with nice / practical graphics and I've never really got into party - although I think just about everyone has played there at one point or another
hope thats a help

You are not just ranting party poker is horrible in my opinon. Even thouhg i tried it only once i HATED IT. i did not like the freerolls, or the fact thats its hard to get moeny on that site from scratch. I am loyal to FT and i love it.
I heard that PartyPoker used to be a great site to cash in on in the soft $10 SNG's, the smallest one's at the time.
I hear ya though when you're tryin' to play against players who don't even have a clue,... start's becoming a game where 'any two cards' are a 'starting hand',.. it does suck severely. I find PokerStars $1 SnG's to be like that ALOT!!!!!
I find the best way to play them is to not raise as I usually would preflop (cuz those Loose Calling Station morons are going to call regardless of what you bet). I either fold, fold, and fold some more, watch some of them build their chipstacks while other's fall by the wayside. I will only then enter a hand if I have a MONSTER and then will push 10x more aggressively than I usually do (and I normally play tight agg./agg 'BOMB' neutral). Another thing I'll incorporate in my play is to keep it real simple (as suggested in that book, 'How to win $30,000 in online poker'. If I can see the flop for cheap (or if I've got a good hand and am seeing the flop anyways) and if I hit top pr. top kicker I'm pushing allin,.. simple as that. Crappy way to play poker but just about the only thing I find that works against those types of players. Also, if I see that they're betting out always, with even low pr. on board, low kicker, no dr's, etc. (yah,.. I know,.. they do that,... 'sick' ening), I will just call and set the trap then push out a good pot-sized bet on the river (and they'll still call, lol).
Pretty gross to have to play in that type of field. Trust me, I've tried over and over again,.. sick of it. I don't have the biggest of bankrolls to play in games over a $5 buy-in but do find the $5 buy-in level to be much better than any lower than that. Lately I've been opting to play in some satellites so that I can enter into games with a bigger buy-in (ie. $26 & $75 on Fulltilt) so that I can play on tables with good play (I'd way rather be playing against 'good' players,.. at least they'll be thinking along the same lines as I am while they're playing and really don't mind be outplayed at all (especially in comparison to be outdunked or outsucked... grrr...)).
I'm still learning this online poker deal. Was getting real frustrated with not being able to find tables I enjoyed playing on. Much better now though,.. .I finally came to the realization that I must buy-in to at least $5 a game and need to throw out the 'old thinking' of "I'll just play in a few $1 one's at the same time and will play super tight!!" (same result over and over,... a few cashes and then a slow but sure draining of my account, lol,..not too funny at the time though).
