One thing that has always helped me is an article by Phil Galfond, its called "You Suck at Poker, Yes You" or something along those lines. It helped me realize just how much I add to every downswing I have, and how if I just played better, essentially every significant downswing I've had could have been made at least break even. Players with higher winrates are naturally going to experience smaller and less frequent downswings. So the solution to every downswing is to just simply get better. Make that thin value bet that I missed during my downswing, or that fold on the flop instead of the turn that would have saved me a bet, and not sweat the cooler that I played perfect and just lost, even though the latter is what our brains naturally remember best. When I feel like I'm better than I was when I started losing money then that also helps restore my confidence that was lost by losing so much, and makes me feel like I can go into the game and come out a winner. This mentality also leads to much better play. So yeah, take some responsibility, if you and me didn't suck at poker so bad we wouldn't have to deal with any significant downswings. The KK vs. AA cooler would be more than balanced by our thin value bets and timely folds, and those types of things are what we should focus our energy and thoughts on.

That just happened to me not 10 minutes before I read this post to turn a winning session into a losing one. Good advice. Calmed me down a bit.

But I swear to god that if i folded every AA, KK and QQ my roll would probably be double-no matter what the odds say.
