Hey you poker afficionados i am trying to begin my own home game i got everything chips cards chairs just wanted to know how do i rake wat's my cut

2 THINGS TO THINK ABOUT!!

If you are in the United States it is illegal and you might get arrested for taking a rake. What you might need to do is provide food or beverages and charge a fee for those.

If you are running a cash game, and don't care about the legal issues, rake a portion from each hand. Back in the day, the guys house I played at he took a dollar from every pot that was more then 20 dollars but we played 5/10 and 10/20 Limit. (yeah yeah, I'm old school)

think you need to look into the legality of playing poker in whatever state your in - It varies between the mad, the sensible and the grey area

in terms of how the host makes money ? well I think trying to take a rake isn't really a good option - your on the edge of then running a poker den at home - which I would think is going to be iffy in lots of states

The way I look at it is you host a game and invite friends who suck at poker lol

well what I mean is that you just rely on your ability to win at poker as another joe at the table rather than building in a rake or cut for the "house"

If you supply some food then you could either look at this as a freebie to get the games regular or you could just agree a nominal whip round to cover snacks / pizza

Best thing is to have a good night that people want to come back and loose money regularly ... If you have friends who like to unwind by throwing cash away and drinking too many beers - you wont need a rake just play poker
