I used to take note on players a couple of years or so ago -
in SnG's at PokerRoom ... rediculously by hand on bits of paper in a file. This was back when I was on Mac no download so you could use the in software notes so I gave up on it after a while.
Now I'm playing cash games which I'm not so comfortable in I've started making notes again using the software (on pokerheaven) which is basic but quick and easy to use.
Just interested how many of you make notes on other poker players ?
What sort of notes you make and how detailed etc
(hepe no-one has notes on me I'd hate to see how man holes in my game anyone has picked up on)
cheers Scrawnybob

I take player notes quite frequently especially on players I see alot at tables and have a handle on their style....that way I don't forget...there's a lot of "fish in the sea." I get detailed on some players (calls with 96os in early position)because they may have many different tells, but alot of my notes on players are simply "good player - tight aggressive" or "loose - calls everything pre-flop" or "gets tilty after losses."
P.S. no notes on scrawnybob as of yet and I don't know that I'd let you know either !!! LOL
I do use the player notes. Usually only when I notice a very strong player or a very loose player. I use the color codes for different types of players.
I used to make a TON of notes. Now I primarily play on small sites that have the same players often so I don't bother at this point as my memory works well from playing the same people every day.
If I was still playing on large sites I would probably still take notes when I can.
I know I should, but I don't. I am playing semi-recreationally at the moment, so I'm not overly concerned with pushing every edge to the max. Plus, I don't like writing on paper, and I don't like most of the built in note taking features of the sites I play on.
Is there any dedicated note taking software out there?
I just started putting a little effort into my notes. Most of the ones I have now were done after a bad beat or when I was steaming.
i don't think DONKEY LUCKBOX or TIGHT will be as helpful as a detail note about their play. i'll have to see if it works. I play at poker stars so i don't run into the same people alot.

Hi My name is bender and I can't stop calling
I make notes on players, nothing to detailed unless I see a pattern. I had notes on a guy on AP that I ran into a lot. I noticed he always raised the blind higher or over raised the blind higher than normal with any pocket pair, 2 - aces it didn't matter. This helped because if he came in with a standard raise of 3 or 4 times the big blind I could eliminate him have a PP. Valuable information indeed.
I'll make notes on random players if something really stands out. EX: How they bet with draws or they're willingness or unwillingness to surrrender their blinds. The really good players or really bad players I see all the time are sort of done by memory.
I Find Poker Notes Useful At Times Especially Considering The Ammount Of Players You Get Online It Helps To Have A Basic Outline Of A Player When You Come To A Table. Any Advantage No Matter How Small Is Still An Advantage And Is Therefore Worth Employing. But Poker Notes You Have Taken On A Player Before Can Only Help So Much As They Won't Tell You What Mood That Player Is In Today Or How Much His Game May Have Improved Since Last You Saw Them At The Tables So I Don't Rely On Them Too Much.
