It would be interesting to see which is the best bots, but this would need a special contest, plus i guess some bots are able to learn from their mistakes while others don't, so that this contest should last a bit long to really know which is the best.

I would like to see a competent poker bot for sparring and educational purposes, if for no other reason. Who cares if the bot is exploitable, hell, people are exploitable too. I agree that people have a right to know who they are playing.

The marked table concept is similar to what already happens in chess; computer opponents are much more accepted in chess, and are clearly marked on the chess servers. I believe that widespread, responsible use of bots will only help.

Barry says most sites ban bots, yet he shows one on FT, so FT does not ban them? I would like to know which sites do ban bots.

No Bots especially player owned Bots. If they are clever enough to create BOTS then they could create colluding BOTS to chet EEK.

If they want to have BOTS let them only play the 1c/2c games they would get crushed lol

The greatest scientists on earth couldnt create a BOT to cope with those games

Agreed. Let's have a lot more openness about the use of bots on poker sites - by the sites themselves and by players using the sites.

Kudos to Barry for his progressive thinking.

Such approach, if implemented by FTP/Stars will be both great of hobysist that want to develop own bots to compete for money and people that do not want to play against bots (which would need to avoid the few tables where bots are allowed).

Sooner or later there will be no more living, online poker players. The servers will be full of player created bots battling an endless war against eachother.

I hate the idea of bots and always have, I go to the casinos to play real people, and I expect to play real people online.

Poker bots may be easy to beat, but I want a challenge, I want real.

Barry Greenstein is so easy going.Gotta like the guy.Nothing ever ruffles his feathers.I read the article. He isn,t afraid of poker Bots because he believes they could never beat him.At least there not sophisticated enough yet.And i guess they should be easy enough for him to spot. They can,t read bluffs or read the other players.

While I hate the idea of bots, it's inevitable that there will be bots, therefore, they should be clearly marked.

PokerBots (IMHO), are definately NOT ok and any Poker Site that approves their use will surely experience a mass exodus of epic proportions.

It's bad enough now listening or reading about how 'such and such' a site is rigged. Imagine the poker forums if PokerBots were permitted??? We'd never hear the end of it!

Poker is a human game. Those who play are unique individuals with differing personalities, ego's, tilt factors, skill levels, bankrolls and playing styles etc.

It is often said that in poker you "play the player, not the cards". This, along with what I have already mentioned, is what draws people like you and me to the game.

This is the beauty of poker (for me anyway).

If a PokerBot boom were to occur, I would definately quit online poker and go back to live casino poker.

    Blessings - GoldenK1W1
