I agree with Barry on this one.
I would definitley not have a problem with house Bots although I agree you will most likley not see them at the larger sites becuse they are costly and not a neccesity (they play with house money and are there to induce action and keep tbls open).
House Bots are easily spotted and even more easily exploited. (Just like the props of the past). If you find yourself setting at a table with a bot and you have identified the level of programming that went into the creation of that bot use that information not just to exploit the Bot but use that information to exploit the entire table. At this point you control the action maximizing your wins and minimizing your losses.
If however you believe the Bots programming surpasses your skill level leave the table.
It realy wouldn't matter to me if the Bots were identified or not, like the props of the past they never identified themselves before they set down however you could spot them within a few hands.

Well...I've been on sites where I've thought the play is consistently predictable, and alters accordingly with a matching, raised amount of predictability, according to the raise in blinds, ie more complicated scenarios are incorporated into hands but still within the set, programmed/restricted bounds...nothing individual about the moves...so...

I'd rather play people than bots...guess it might be useful for practise...didn't they do it in chess? Think "beat the machine" is the trend in our young technological age...maybe this is only the beginning.
I'd say unless people specifically go to a site to "challenge" a certain, perceived level of, possibly, advanced play, thereby hoping to improve, bots are pretty boring to play against...
Sites may use them to bolster numbers and to weed out worse players before the final table debacle...they probably also record the ratio of winning/losing play vs the bots...if you can't beat a machine, can you beat a man? Who's better? Probably the machine will win...or maybe not...
But that's another post

Interesting and I wonder if Barry still approves
He is in favor of them because as he says they are better at low limits, so he wouldn't have to face them. That being said 90% of online poker players are playing low limit poker, 75% are expected to bust, 5% just walk away. Good business move if anything.
Given enough time and practice, programming will catch up and beat the pro's, heck they are already giving Phil Laak a run for his money.
Why not have NFL football played on the Wii to prevent head injuries and concussions.
Seriously I would like to live the rest of my life before machines finally do take over.

I agree with the last post about wanting to live my life and end it before the machines take over everything we do and there will be no need for the average Joe, like me for instance. The other thing i agree with is that i enjoy playing poker for the interactions it cause with other people like Kiwi said, everyone has a different style and tilt levels etc., and how boring the game would be to me if everyone all played ABC poker and there was no feeling or luck put into the game. I have said it before, i don't play for an early retirement and don't consider myself talented enough to play for bigger money, i just like the relaxing banter and good time i have playing after work and sometimes on the weekend, the money i have won was an extra perk, so playing with bots all the time would really suck for the casual player like myself, in fact players like myself would probably stop all together and find a good home game or go back to the casinos rather then playing against some AI

i think if the bots want to play each ....ok, go ahead. i want to play with living, breathing humans. i want it to be my choice if i play with a machine. i think they should be labeled so and not allowed to circulate.
