    Default yes but not here

hi steve & welcome to the forum

yes you can buy and sell play money chips from some sites - but not here

we dont allow posts on trading play chips etc because we end up with a load of 2bit sites posting their spam up to buy / sell play chips etc ...

and that isnt what the forum is for & they get in the way of discussing poker etc

you should be able to find a load of play chip traders with a search on google ... but I dont think its a get rich quick strategy -

play money poker play is generally worse than terrible - if your looking for free money your better off playing freerolls and hoping to win some money that way

    cheers scrawnybob

I believe that for most sites you can not. But PokerStars does allow it because their play chips are actually worth something compared to the other sites. You can usually do it on a separate site from people who buy it from you. But, watch out for the scam sites.

Going to have to disagree here, Pretty sure I'm right unless they recently changed their policy.
I played play money for 1-2yrs and the topic came up alot. I've heard of players that sell privately to other players but I've never had anybody offer any $ for my fake money. I researched this a bit and came up with the HSChips scam which later became starsmillion + more silly scam sites.
Now then, There used to be a guy that went to every play money table on Pokerstars advertising Starsmillion. They would sit for 2 secs, post their spam and leave. You'd go to his site and say I'd like to sell however many million play chips, I think they offered $11 per million, then you'd meet him online, transfer the chips and he'd scarper saying you'll have the money as soon as the transfer clears. Starsmillion had the online BBB logo on their website but wasn't registered with them, it looked like a sloppy copy and paste job.
Policy on Stars was that any discussion of buying/selling play chips could result in account ban and that's exactly what happened to the spammer (I'm assuming he had another account for the transfer after the first one got banned). So he would "entice" hopeful players to his site, steal their play chips and then tell them that he would pay handsomely for advertising done by them after they had been ripped off. Anybody gullible enough to believe his lies and actually advertise the scam would get banned from Pokerstars too!!!! (talk about a bad day)
I guess somebody somewhere is buying/selling chips but with all the scammers advertising they are the only real deal good luck finding the real one. Save yourself the frustration and deposit.

    Default play chips

i learned with playchips my first year. merge had big $ buyin playchip tournys. playchips were only avail to losers 1k every 24hrs. forum tourny was playchips. some very good players were using them. i had over a million so i would give them away to friends. they were cherished and desirable. now? they give them out like candy, available every couple hours. the playchip tournys are cheap. the tables are filled with newbies who don't respect their chips. they have no value anymore...real or imagined.

I can't for the life of me see why anyone would want to use their hard earned cash to buy FAKE chips that can't be removed from whatever web site they are on?

You can sell your play chips for real money as i have done it many times in the past, I have also bought chips. I was worried about my account being closed for not following the rules so I contacted pokerstars and its completely legal. However, they dont recommend you doing it because there are alot of scammers out there and I guess they dont want to associate with that. If your wondering the site i go to is pokerstarsnow you can google it if you like. If your good at poker you can actually make some pretty good poket money. Anyways cheers, best of luck out on the tables
