    Default Need to fix this

Having a major problem with my game recently. After watching donk after donk luck out with crap, I find myself going on tilt when this happens, even if I'm not in the hand. The result is I lose interest in the tourney and end up donking myself out.

This is a fairly new problem. I was always a tight player and didn't care about people sucking out on others, and rarely went on tilt, but the last few months it is affecting my play.

When I was playing just stars, tilt and ap it didn't seem so bad, but now that I'm playing merge and cake networks, it seems there are more suckouts than good play. I've also tried to loosen up my game a little more. Don't know if these 2 things are related or not.

Any magic pills for keeping an even keel?

Prozac, that should do the trick. I know what you mean. I vote for blowing up on them and then you get it off your chest and can go on about your buz. It works for me sometimes and is mostly fun and distracts me from tilting.

I have suffered and am suffering the same at the moment and it's funny because I've just recently started playing at merge and Cake more. Maybe it's a symptom brought on by these fine sites

What I'm doing to combat it, well blowing up doesn't work for me it makes me play worse. I've currently stopped playing merge because I swear that site has the biggest number of really bad players and they school together and make any micro limit table a complete lottery. You only need to look at the average pot size of a .05/.10 cash table. FullTilt is $1 to $2 merge is usually $3 to $4. With so many players hanging in there for the 2 outer on the river I just don't have the luck to win.

So I'm sticking to Cake because I like their new Gold Stack rewards. To play Cake and win I am playing straight forward ABC only playing about the top 20 hands but with a few low pairs and suited connectors thrown in when I'm in late position and no one is in the pot before me. If I hit the flop I straight away bet it no fancy play no trapping if they fold move on if they play back at me if my hand is good enough I take their money.

I'm constantly taking notes on what the other players do and I talk to my self It helps me out, I find if I talk the hand over in my head (not out loud people will think I'm mad ) I find I make less stupid plays because I tend to get less bored.

This is some of what I do it helps me, mostly.

I've been having that problem at Merge also lately. I've been trying to earn some $$ at Aced through the Fun Steps freerolls, but the crazies are driving me crazy too! They just play anything and everything, because it's "free" I guess... who knows? I'm just a person that likes to try and do my best and these crazies make me Tilt.

I either leave the table for awhile, or end up just going all in on whatever to get the hell out of there..lol. Hopefully I/We are just having a little run of bad luck and it will straighten out before the league starts up.

    Good Luck!

I'm gonna offer up what will probablly considered very poor advice, but I'll go ahead anyway. Try playing a game without paying much attention. This may work well with a forum game where you know the players better. You may not need to see every hand to have a read on their play. I don't know how often you use "notes" but this would be a good time to use. Play your hand and situation and odds. Just to see how it comes out. I'm not saying to make this your regular play, but playing with your game and experimenting can often lead to break-throughs.

I feel the same for almost 3 months now. I'm not able to last long in most games i play, even with forum games. I think i lost most of my patience during past years, facing donkeys (), and i decided to change something before it ends with my BR down to zero. So, i decided to play less poker, and read more about poker.
And that's what i do, as i only played few games during past weeks, which is unbelievable as i was on holidays with many hours to spend playing. But no, i gave-up the idea knowing i was probably gonna tilt early and throw money throiugh the XP windows.
Afterall, i have, just like Frosty probably have, spent so many hours playing OL poker that i feel a bit tired of playing. Even when i'm to play, i usually end tilting early in the tourney i chose to play. I know i will be back soon to play 4kp games mostly, but i won't try to play more as i think my head need to rest a bit from poker.
So here is my advice, take a break for a while from OL games and try to run some at home instead. That's how i manage to overcome my despite.

PS: don't forget to invite rich and loose friends so that you'll be able to end winning some $$.

In this particular case, Frosty, i think that you are letting people get under your skin, also you mention opening your hand range, but how far?, i mean i see you yesterday when you reraise allin with AJ preflop with a guy that was calling and pushing, the guy call you and he got you with A-K, lucky to you the suckout but i do not remember you do this before, i think you did it because was already mad with this guy, then call him stupid or donk or what ever also do not help, only make him note you in the game, then become personal between you and him until he got lucky and put you out.

Most part of the game you got more chips than me, even when was close to the $ i see you like in 10th place with pays for 20, but instead of cool down you get in a constant fight with this guy until get unlucky.

With this people (open/free games) try to not bluff, everyone pays you with anything, ignore the lucky people that get lucky with crap hands do not get in the fight with them, i try to not get much in hands with this guy but you see i beat him postflop with a 6-3 if he let me, but playing pre with him is only gambling and giving him a chance to suckout, unless you really had a big hand i think you should try to trap him in post flop play.

I think you are a good player and do it fine most part of the game, but then you get desperate, mad or whatever and make mistakes.

If chat get you mad block the chat for that player, if play from some one get you mad try to avoid be in same hands with this people, and you need to be patience. Some times is really hard not get emotional in games but need to work on that to play better, that can be the difference between be in the money and stay out, i think you should be in the money yesterday with not much trouble.

I have gone the other way I think.I used to TILT like a three legged chair in the past. But now I just laugh at the bad beats and say good luck especially in all our Forum,s games where I know the players.Because knowing the players I know its going to happen to us all hopefully equally. And i,m sure my attitude has helped my game. Everyone plays wildly in those $25 free rolls that pay out the top 3.They can be fun.I even open up my starting and calling range for those games.
Don,t change your game too much. It,s solid. The bad beats won,t last forever and other players bad beats shouldn,t affect your game play.I do understand where your coming from though. When you see a bad player sukking out on everybody, seeming to catch every flop with bad starters, and building a big stack by doing so it can affect a person,s mindset. But then its nice to sit back and watch them lose it all.
But if I,m playing a RING game and take a couple bad beats I will leave the table because I will want to get that player back and so play recklessly. Then i have to get up and leave that table.

    Wink New Solution!

I have found the answer... at least for today... I had to go to the Dr. today and Hubby wanted to play some poker. He doesn't have his own poker account anywhere, so i figured I would set him up on ACED with the Fun Steps.. I've been teaching him some of the differences of playing online vs. at home... Well, when I came home a few hours later, he had won me $1 thru the Fun Step tables!!

I avoided going on Tilt all together this way.
