Default Strange call with 4 of a kind

Have you ever been in a tournement and found one player always seems to have the cards on you.

Just finished 3rd in a tournement and won $25 but had the final winner on my table for most of the game. Every time I played against him he had the better hand at the finish. Fortunatley I never went all in against him until he knocked me out.

One hand I didn't understand at all. I'm in the BB with 10 J suited. he limps in and I check Flop comes 7 J 7. I lead out he calls, turn is a 3 I make a continuation bet he calls, river 5. Consider pushing all in but make a 50% pot bet instead. he calls and shows 4 7s. There were no flush or straight possiblities so he had the nuts. Don't know why he called rather than raise which was lucky for me as I might have called it.

I don't recall winning even one hand against him.

Maybe he was trapping still on the Turn but when you bet 50% of the Pot maybe he thought you could have made a str8 or just felt merciful. I have a theory that i don,t think its the player but the starting Seat.Like it is pre-destined to be a winning seat.I have so often seen one player(Seat) catch every hand they play at a table.I have been lucky a few times when this has happened to me.You almost feel like playing any 2 cards like his 4-7 and you just seem to catch all the time.Just another wacky theory. But some games if i played more hands I could have won because I folded so many winning hands that shouldn,t really be played. But it almost convinces you the Site has picked you to win the game. Its quite often you see a player lead a tournament from the beginning to the end and it makes you wonder. But you say oh well he,s just running good.

Sorry Rg I didn't make it clear in my post. he had pocket 7s to give him 4 of a kind. 4 7s should have read 4 x 7. He had the nuts from the flop..

you said there were no straight or flush possibilities, wouldn't matter anyway. anytime someone smooth calls with the nuts with position it is probably a misclick.

    Default multitabling ?

    hi

yep my guess is a miss-click

possibly as a result of multitabling (check your notes)

multitablers tend to make alot more mistakes like this - he may for example have thought I have this hand locked (with the total nuts) that to extract value he intended to just call along until the river and then re bet for value ... and then either mis clicked or totally missed his train of thought while on other tables

Ive done it with only 3 tables - and you kick yourself (very hard) the moment you are hitting call instead of re-raise ... because suddenly on another table you have one of those strong playable hands that isnt a PP that "plays itself"

really easily done - not noticed when the hand is so-so but obvious in a case like this

I hope you have the player tagged anyway for this hand - more mistakes likely ???

    cheers scrawnybob

Happens a lot. I seem to always get beat with pocket rocks and cowboys. Never fails. The other night I had AA and went all in pre flop a guy called me with 2 6 clubs. I got AAA and ended up getting a flush. Enraged is what I felt.

Ya, I have noticed that the big stacks with either have rags that end up getting them a monster or a big pocket pair. Yesterday, the big stack at my table in a tournament got pocket rockets, kings and jacks and in one big hand he had a rag hand and he hit trips. It was annoying. Let's just say I avoided all hands with that guy. He was making some bad calls after a big bet with a bad hand and getting rewarded.
