Hot Streaks/Cold Streaks

I've been playing online for quite sometime....about 90% of the time at Hold'em sit-n-go's and tournaments. I have noticed over a few years that COLD streaks last a hell of a lot longer than HOT streaks....am I right? I have done the usual during cold spells - played tighter...played looser....nothing works. When you're cold, you're cold. However, when you get "that feeling" and things are working, it lasts only for hours, maybe one day at most. Maybe two days. But, cold streaks last for weeks and sometimes months. Shouldn't these streaks balance out for the most part since it is all based on chance? You can improve your odds by playing solid starting hands, but still chance plays a big part....so.....shouldn't things balance out? So my question to all of you is: Do your cold streaks last much longer than your hot streaks? Perhaps I am on the cusp of a LONG LONG hot streak, but somehow I doubt it.

I find that in a long tournement you have good spells of cards and bad spells as well. I think part of the skill in poker is maximising your good streaks and minimising your bad streaks and knowing when they are.

I quite often find I'll get a streak of 3 or 4 good starting hands in a row. Usually I win with the first 2 or 3 and lose the fourth.

To win a tournement you need both luck and skill. The luck to win a race or two and the skill to be there to enter the race and have the bigger stack to start with.

i find the same thing / on some nights no mater what two cards i hold they hit ..

I am in the midst of the longest cold streak i have ever been in, it seems like no matter what i do or what cards i have then i either get sucked out or just straight up beat by someone with just a bit better cards, it's really starting to suck big time

Likewise. SOme of the situations either wanna make me cry or make me laugh it is so unbelievable. If I slow-play, idiots catch on the river. If I go all-in with KK, someone has AA or the person with a smaller pair catches trips.

That is why I made the initial argument - shouldn't these things equal out? That is not the situation for me.

yes i have same prob a profit for 3 4 hours (15 tables at a time 60 games total) at a stupendous rate on single table tourneys ie roi 70 percent then i go on a cold streak losing repeatedly over the next 9 - 10 hours and end up back where i started and this has gone on for 4 months with a hell of a lot of poker.

or so i do on pokerstars...........on all other sites never had this prob sure i hit cold streaks but i would overcome them and push on......Not on pokerstars i wont

The site has left me a shadow of the poker guru i used to be (or thought i was)

Poker is a lot like work, you will always spend it faster than you can earn it.
I enter alot of freerolls on the side, to try to keep the bankroll going to the plus side.

Hope that cold streak shuts off and the hot water comes back on, soon.
