    Smile Law of Attraction

I was recently searching for some positive inspiration and came across a short article that theorizes a correlation between the Law of Attraction and Poker. Always on the lookout for "Positive Thoughts" and being a Communication Major that loved theory class.. lol, I had to check it out. Here is the link to the article if you are interested in some discussion: Poker positive thinking and positive attitudes in poker tournaments .

The first thing most ask is "What the heck is the Law of Attraction?" The positive thinking theory just says that, "people can attract what they want to themselves with their thoughts," according to the article. To me, it sounds like the "self-fulfillling prophecy" you may have heard of.

This article is asking, Does The Law of Attraction work at the poker tables?

To test the theory, the author tells us that there are 5 steps the the Law of Attraction: (see article for full explanations)
    1. Know What You Want
    2. Think Big
    3. Clear All Negative Thoughts or Beliefs
    4. Feel What i Would Be Like to Win, Visualize it
    5. Play With Confidence

I thought it would be fun to test this theory this season. If anyone else would like to try it out and post some results, I think it would be interesting.

If anyone else would like to try the Opposite, that would really be pretty interesting for a comparison..lol, but if it works, you may lose so I can understand some reluctance.

Just some thoughts on the whole thing would be great. Let me know what you think.

I think maybe this would be a good idea in a live game at home or in a bm casino for example , not real sure how it could possibly help with a rng that is used virtually, but i guess you can try it out this season and that way we can see if it holds water, because if it does i will try it out also, lol

I believe your attitude can affect your play without a doubt. For example I am guilty and i know other players are too of negativity.I hear players at the table after the river ACE beats there hand say something like " No surprise its been happening to me all day" I don,t in anyway believe its going to affect the cards your going to be dealt. But players are less likely to Bet out there Hands and will be more likely to fold to Re-raises for example. As they have taken on a "Defeated feeling". Best to sit out for the night.
On the other hand when your on a roll and Running good. Your more likely to play more hands (range) than you would normally play.By playing more hands you HIT more often and the Positive attitude changes how you Bet/Push/Call Bluff etc.And it seems your making all the right moves.
Your Game changes with your MOOD ... not the CARDS ........

Interesting discussion though. It does seem Happy/Optimistic/Positive people seem to be generally luckier in life/poker. Or are they Optimistic/Positive because there Lucky in the first place.

Excellent thoughts there rg, it is most definatly the state of mind one is in rather then the cards. I have been in one of those defeated attitudes more then once when trying to play and once i get there it seems like i do get real gun shy and then start expecting to lose so my betting reflects that.Yet other times when i feel very good about things i will play a very wide margin of cards, bordering on the muleish side and it all seems to hit on the river on the flop anywhere, it just seems to hit!!!But the cool thing is when we are being so positive and feeling loose then we may be creating the negative feeling in other players who may start to get gunshy so therefore they can influence one another also, to me the trick is figuring out how to stay in the positive flow and avoid the black pit

My mood usually dictate my results, meaning that i won't earn any money, no matter what's the game, if i'm not in the mood to play and mind free. That's a part of your positive attraction. When confortable in your mind, with no stress, you're able to take better decision and to overcome any steaming hand.
So think positive. (when you can)
