    Default Internet players

On Late Night Poker a guy called Marc Goodwin (who I hadn't heard of before) said something about Luke Schwartz (who I had heard of before) like
Internet players - well, if they ever leave the house I judge them as normal, but I know that most of them don’t. So they are like subnormal primates who just sit in front of a TV and gamble in their underpants
I must admit that I was quite surprised by that, as generally I have found the best online players to be very rounded players, far more advanced mathematically than those players I have encountered that only play live poker.

Why do some professional poker players look down on internet players as some sort of lower species of humanity?

(Incidentally, for those of us that don't understand proper English, pants are not trousers they are a type of underwear)

Glad you said some Pro players think that of internet/online players. Tom Durr Dwann and many others would disagree. The Pro,s cannot always be in the same city all the time to find Big Cash games to play so more and more play online more often now.If only to keep there game up to standards. But some of the JUICIEST Action is online now. Some of the the older PRO,s are stubborn and behind the times plus resent these online players that will not wince to bet 300k with 2 pair in Omaha.

I feel like it must be right as the "no-life" syndrom touched many OL poker players, just like it did with all other games (WOW for example). Some will have no other social activity to fill their days than playing poker and will become dependent, somehow. That's the way i understand this quote.

That is one way of interpreting it.

Of course, the other way of looking at it is that there are some poker pros who became pros before the online boom, they don't like so many of the online players "muscling in" on their territory and winning big live tournaments, and it is simply a case of sour grapes.

I read it that he is talking about the online players that have no life and just sit in front of the computer all day and night. But I do think there is a little touch of sour grapes.

The internet pro has changed the way poker is played.

Well that S.O.B How dare he group us like that, stereotyping, thats what it is, and since when did we have to wear clothes to play online poker.

@NoWuckingFurries Your signature is kinda out of date. I don't know when Phil Gordon wrote that book but I 101% disagree with what he said.
    1. A good player could also float the flop (call with air or some back door thing) with the intention of check-raise bluff the turn and steal the pot right there.
    2. If you can name a regular at 5000NL a good player then you (and phill gordon) have to know that there is a very interesting line that some players take now: Check/ calling . Not with a draw, not with the intention of floating and not just being insecure with their hand.

I'm just saying, you should quote some good players like Ivey, dwan, Patrick, Galfond.

Do they do that a lot?
