Fulltilt investigations by FBI

Has anyone heard any updates about the investigations into fulltilt, Ferguson, and Lederer. I don't understand why the gov't would try to do something with online poker now that it seems congress is getting closer to regulating it. Has anyone read anything as to what they are trying to accomplish and what the possible impact on poker is? I only read that they are trying to use money laundering as a charge for the investigation. Hopefully it will amount to nothing and congress will step up their attempts to get online poker regulated.

I don't know for sure obviously but i think that for awhile now they have made a fairly big dent into online gambling at casinos and so now they are going to start to target the poker rooms that at first they were leaving alone imho

The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, which was suppose to be in effect in Dec 2009 was delayed until June 1st, 2010.

my best guess - and in all honesty it is a guess ...

is another delay possibly for a full year which would be a damn sight more realistic in terms of actually making some prgress on a solution

the UIGEA is a disaster on alot of fronts and the banking community still dont want the agro of enforcing it ... it was suposed to have be amended / tidied up by now anyway and hasnt so I dont see it happening ... but it might

I also think that with the bigger and established sites they may well find ways around things or certainly make sure they look after their players in the event of having players wanting to draw on their accounts

the difficulty is more about the differing agendas - both for and against ... its far from a united front and many with power want legalised online gambling to be a very closed shop

Thanks for the heads up everyone and thanks playful about the money issue, i will probably remove most of it , and leave enough to play some tournies with...but if it is the UIGEA then i really aint worried much yet anyways
