    Default Player notes

I've never been crazy about making notes (guess I'm too lazy). I'll make some for awhile then grow tired of it. I'm not very good at evaluating other players game (plus I'm usually on here looking at the posts while I'm playing, lol). Anyway, the other day I finally noticed I had a note on a player in a sit n go I was playing. I was just reminding myself that last time I saw this guy, every time he continuation bet with 1/2 the pot, he had nothing. Sure enough I called one of his raises, after flop he bets 1/2 the pot, I raise 3X, he folds. How often do you think notes really help you in a tourney? Also, since people can make notes on you, what do you do to prevent others from seeing a pattern with your play. Wish there was some way of knowing if someone had a note on you so you could use that to your advantage, play a little different than usual.

It all depends. Nowadays, MANY players use other software to track players they play against. Therefore eliminating note bias or note taking all together. So... I actually still take notes and I'll see them sometimes. I try to take general notes for the situations where I have just sat at a table and haven't had time to evaluate play. So I put notes on VERY tight plays and VERY loose plays.

I generally don't take notes as outside of 4kp games I play mainly MTT on Pokerstars where you rarely see the same player twice. The software I use reads the hand history saved for the site and lets me know how many hands I have played at the same table as individual players and if it's more than the hands played in the tourny I'm in I can look at the history.

In 4kp games because we play regularly I have got use to individual styles and althought they do change some habits are hard to change.

    Default players worth noting

i have always taken notes and always will. notes have helped me more times than i can count. using all the poker software available is like having to rely on a calculator to do your math. it's a crutch that you can't take live.

I find notes to be useful, but tracking software can also get you a lot of data. I try to use both, but am also careful to understand they are "road signs" or tendencies and not absolutes.

I actually saw an older gentleman in Vegas taking notes in a small pocket size notebook at a live table. I have not done that as of yet. I do not play enough live games for any real stakes with the same players to make that worthwhile.

I have heard a lot of the top pros use to go home after tournaments and write down a lot of notes.

    Default tracking software

I find notes help. even if it just a color code. lets ya know who's who. Don't know about tracking software. do the sites allow it?. I would not use it.
