Default Do You Take Anything To Help Your Poker Game??

Reading pokerplayer this month they have an article on products and/or supplements that may help your poker performance, things like red bull or gingko bilboa etc etc.

I was wondering if people use things to keep them focused. Coffee or something??? One of my friend eats protien bars and grapes and drinks loads of water while in huge MTTs.

Default sleeping pills would be better

hi

think sleeping pills would be better - I think radbull would make me loose money hyper quick

the secret of poker is definately patience - not a caffine fix

I guess if you talking 6 hrs straight coffee would be good to keep you going but I wouldnt recommend it to actually give you a buzz

it's a good thing if your nearly horizontal - less hands - more selective and more profitable

think water is a good idea as this does keep you genuinely alert and better judgement

also bananas are good slow release - not that I eat them - much prefer cuppa tea

cheers scrawnybob

lol- I definately don't agree with that one- the other day I was playing at a live tourney and I was so tired that 1 time I was the BB and forgot to look at my cards. It was checked around to me and I just checked also because I was like a zombie, it didn't effect the tourney at all, but OMG- when you are too tired to pick up your cards, you know it's time to go home!

Default lol not quite what I meant

hi

lol

dont think it came across quite what I meant by "laid back nearly horizontal"

what Im saying is not to actually play half asleep - that would be as danderous as playing on 2 cans of read bull

I mean you need to be very alert but to what is going on ready to take advantage but not so strung out on coffee that you are betting and raising anything and everything cos its exciting

the good thing for players who want to win at poker is that winning poker is NOT at first sight as exciting as playing losing poker

yes thats right - More players play losing poker because its more exciting than winning Poker is

Therefore you need to change you mindset - and instead of getting pleasure / excitement from playing lots of hands etc you need to

get you sense of achievement from the hands you let go, the hands you play well and knowing you made less mistakes - thats where the money is

To do this you need to be very relaxed in terms of looking for excitement whilst also being very alert all the time

A tip someone gave me recently is to talk / think out loud - like your Mike Sexton commentating - you will be more likely to spot the traps and set some your self

cheers scrawnybob

Usualy when i am in a tournament i smoke a lot and drink coffee i guess i am more focused and relaxed that way.....anything else not but it still is verry bad because tigars are not good for the body but who argues when you are playing in a great torney and you want to win....what do you do then? the answer is simple...stay focused

i keep a clear head. don't drink or smoke. i try to limit my distractions to a minimal amount by preplanning things like a meal, turn off the phone and tv etc.etc.
