Thread: UKIPT Brighton

  1. #1

    Thumbs down UKIPT Brighton

I won an £1100 entry to the ITP at Brighton next month.

I have played on Pokerstars for over 2 years and only recently have I decided to play sats to live tourneys. I won the tourney at a total cost of £60.

The account is in the name of my partner as I have no bank account. Pokerstars accepted it would be in her name and I would be the player. They said we both had to provide ID and that it was approved.

However, Pokerstars have now stated that the entry to Brighton has to be in the name of my partner as it is her account. They said they had no records of the proof we sent into them and I cannot play at Brighton.

They have now closed my account and the only options we have are: That my partner plays or we dont show for the tourney!

My partner has never played Poker and will not leave the children to play something she knows nothing about.

Therefore I have lost the opportunity to play at an ITP and £60!

I am so angry but have no emails to prove otherwise as it was over 2 years ago!

i do ot understand y pokerstars allowed the account in your wifes name as far as i know that should be a complete no no. having said that if they did agree it is ridiculous if they have backtracked on what was agreed BUT there is no excuse for using any1s account now as you do not need a bank account as u can use ecash.

Personally i would never play a satellite for live tourneys or even big pay out tourneys in another players account as they could dispute the win.

If i were u i would persist with them as u say they have agreed u could play in ur wifes name having failed that make sure u tel ur wife anybody can pick up the basics quickly and any donkey can win..........1100 gbp entry fee is to much to be sniffed at.

Yeah..you should definetely persist with this matter.

If you have to...phone them three days in a row - ie tue 8am, wed 2pm, thur 9pm.
(Maybe its just me, but the nightshift support are usually the most helpful. I would however leave it till the 3rd day to ring them - it will keep a glimmer of hope in the distance )

    Two questions;
    1) "They said they had no records of the proof we sent into them"
What was this proof? And is it allowed/possible to send this proof as an email attachment?

    2) "no emails to prove otherwise as it was over 2 years ago"
What would the emails prove here?

The proof was a passport picture of each of us, a bank statement in my partners name, a utility bill in my name and a copy of the front of my partners debit card. They were sent in as email attachments and approved.

I just hoped the emails would prove that Pokerstars had approved the account.

The ticket is now going to waste as my partner will not play!

The only thing I can think of is to resend the email attachment and maybe request if you can send them photocopies via registered post.

If it appears that your not going to be allowed to play - just put it down to experience Mike...and look on the 1k value of the ticket as like one months food, nappies and other assorted crap we all usually buy!

I think you should start planning for next years events actually.....save up full buyin or get some nice bankroll's on some other poker rooms.
Make a positive from a negative, become an even better poker player and kick some ass!

    Can you take the T$?

It's a bad situation to be in but couldn't you have put the account in your name originally and deposit with your partners Debit card anyway?
