Default Do we need more than one or two league games?

Hi all...back from hols now and was really looking forward to our league games...

Seemed Carbon had not happened and only FT left

Is one league game alone per week enuf to satisfy us passionate players

Surely we need to thrash our opponents at least 3 times a week

    Whaddya all think

Default maybe more - but free rides cant last for ever

    hi

maybe I will be able to afford to fund more leagues at some point

but to be honest free rides cant last forever

I pay for the forum games for the revenue for getting sites new signups - afaiks very very veyr few if any have come from the active members of the forum who benefit from and request more and more tournaments etc

the most likely solution is for me to run more games for our signups only and / or to run games at new sites so forum members can signup there via our links and maybe if some play for real money then I might actually break even on a league for the first time ever based on forum member signups ;-)

so posting do we "need" should actually be "we would like"

that might seem negative but there is no such thing as a free lunch - and whatever some are getting for nothing is costing someone - that would be me ;-)

    cheers SB

    Yup, no doubt.
Thanks for posting this SB. Perhaps it clarifys things.
I was wondering about some different ways in which a forum could generate more income.... maybe something like a marathon week or weekend of tourneys with a couple/few new sites thrown in the mix... to generate new signups to pokersites & build up the # of entrants. idk... just something I've been wondering about.

Just curious, does the forum benefit from just sign ups or does there have to be a deposit also. I think there's a few sites I haven't signed up for that still take US players. Might as well create an account if it will help. Don't have funds to dep. though, so won't waste time if it doesn't help without dep.

Yeah I understand your point of view Bob. You do finance these games out of your own pocket and we are all very grateful.
As far as signing up thru 4kings my problem is that I have so many poker sites that I have already signed up for there aren't many i can sign up for thru the forum.

Smile yes depositing real money players

    hi

yes in order for me to get any rev to then put some into the forum games

its only the signups that become real money players and deposit AND actually generate a decent amount of rev for the poker room that would earn anything for me

so thats about 1% of visitors

out of 1,000's of site visitors (the site rather than the forum) maybe 10% of them are looking for reviews of the sites and maybe looking for info to signup to a room - of that maybe 10% of those signup to a poker room and of that 10% maybe only 10% deposit and play a worthwhile amount for the poker room ... so less than 1%

and then finally I would get something - so its a total numbers game

the forum games are not funded by forum members - the games are effectively funded from the rev from the 10% of the 10% of the 10% who visit the site looking for information on best poker room

I will be looking to run games in future at other sites - then maybe more forum members will signup via us but when we have done this in the past the value of forum members to poker rooms seems to work out alot lower than the generally value of signups to them

so even having funded several leagues at a site where we have forum members signing we never got to a point where that meant the leagues were self funding or even close

Ive never viewed the forum as a profit centre - and I doubt it will ever be - its a community

at the end of the day it is a business to the poker rooms plain and simple - gone are the days of sites doing poker sites favours they want results

    cheers SB
