    Default Table Image

Think I've said this before, but table image imo is one of the most important parts of winning at poker. Especially in sng's and smaller tourney's. It really helps when you've played really tight for awhile and get dealt big hand and just value bet it. If you can go to showdown and show a big hand, your raises seem to carry a lot more weight for awhile. For me, I want to win uncontested pots as much as possible. Even if you get big hand after big hand, if the table doesnt believe you, you'll get called and have a bigger chance of getting badbeat.

This is an excellent post dude. Another thing I would like to add is this:

You can also use a tight table image to bluff, but the opportunities are few and far between. Using your table image of a tight player, combined with the ability to read opponents, can keep you in the game. Always play position, if at all possible. But, some tables people are just loose as hell, and won't fold even bottom pair. I have a guy who comes to my homegames who plays any two cards. He is very difficult to read, because he will raise OOP with garbage hands. He once called me all the way to the river with nothing but 6-6, only one undercard on board. With players like this at the table, cards really matter. This is one of the many contributing factors to variance.

Also, some players actually try and create a specific table image based on what kind of players are at the table. I believe you should play the opposite of the table (or the people you are involved in a hand with, more importantly). At a table full of maniacs, I will trap constantly (if I get the cards), and never ever bluff. Conversely, I will play much looser and bluff more frequently at a table full of tight, patient players. I realize I have taken a really long time to say "switching gears" is essential to poker success.

Anyways, just my opinion here, I'm not an expert. Peace.

Table image is very important in most games, but there are some games where it just don't matter. There is another forum that i play games at or with i should say and believe me those peeps don't respect a raise for nothing. So there table image to me is useless, because they will play whatever they have and it just doesn't matter, lol

Table image would be useful if you play S&G,s for example at the same Poker site at the same time of day for roughly the same $$ buy-in and become sort of a regular and see many players often. It,s hard to get a table image sitting at ring game even for 3 hrs with players leaving and new players joining all the time.Don,t expect not to get called.

As I am starting to discover table image does matter at cash tables. If you play regularly at a site and multi table you soon build up a lot of history with some players. After a session I was reviewing my hands and a particular player who I had noted as a tight fairly aware player suddenly had started playing low suited connectors against me when I raised. I looked over my history with him which is over 2000 hands and worked out that he saw me as a player who was only raising with big pairs and A with good kicker. I'm now messing with his head by raising with hands he wouldn't expect and letting he see them on odd occasions. It has made me aware that even at micro stakes there are some players who know a little bit about what they are doing.

Table image is a crucial factor especially when you are playing No-Limit Texas Holdem. The result of your session can depend on it. If you want to use your table image as efficiently as you can you should know a few rules.

First of all, you should not exploit a loose table image playing at a low-limit table where players may not even notice your attempts to show how loose you are. Y ou must be playing players who will acknowledge it. In a low-limit game the best strategy is to play the cards. So, think of table image only when you are playing the player rather than the cards.

The rule No. 2: do not throw too much money away on trash hands even if you are willing to play like a maniac. You can show down a few cheap pots with trash hands and raise some pretty crappy hands pre-flop. Always keep controlling your play and be ready to change gears when it is necessary.

The third rule concerns the most important thing you should do. It says you should always play tight on the flop. Do the raising pre-flop even in case when you have chosen a maniac tactics to act. If the pot is really cheap it is not so bad to call down for a good image and show a stupid hand.
