Poll: The use of recreational substances while playing poker

I just wanted to see where everyone stands with this. It will be an anonymous poll. Who does what, while they play poker - and what do they think about it?

I read alot of chatter in the chatbox, and people talk at the live tables. I would say at least half are drinking or smokin on somethin' while they play. Also, how does this effect peoples' play?

I tried to make poll responses general, and easily applicable. Sorry if there is no choice that suits you well.

Don't drink, & don't do drugs. Have done enough of both for a few lifetimes.
Alot of younger Tournament players smoke pot (online players), & many of them are certain it helps them out. This is obv. total bs though.. 'denial' (aka don't even notice I am lying)

I sometimes drink when I play. I wouldn't say it is good for my game though. It can work out well at times when I get a bit over-aggressive and get lucky. I have hit some of my biggest cashes when I was pretty smashed!!!

I woulda voted both 1 and 4 cos I definitely prefer to be of sound mind when I play. Haven't smoked pot in a long time. Used to be a bit too fond of it and eventually kicked it altogether and haven't looked back. I'm with PO in thinking that it couldn't help you play better. I have a mate that's convinced he plays better baked but I just don't subscribe to that at all.

The older I get the harder weed is to find SUCKS. I guess alcohol aint no good either but I damn sure get a lot more aggressive on my calls when drunk as hell but then again they dont always pay off LOL

I ask this because people frequently drink in live poker at the table. You can watch them playing more agressive and looser as they drink more and more. Eventually, they lose all their money - but usually build up a big stack first, and make a bad move to lose it all.
Hopefully, that bad move is made against me.

Its odd, I wont touch a drink playing live poker, but I get smashed playing online poker, Half is the driving problem and the other half is probably the online money is so small compared to what Im putting up at the card room. BUt I will admit the cardroom has an awesome selection of beer on tap and its very tempting but never done and probably never will

I am like PO, i have done enough drugs ( never like drinking ) to last my lifetime and yours also, so no i don't play while loaded at all...... even when i still did do drugs i wouldn't have done them then played poker, i would have been way to busy injoying my high to sit at the computer screen and play games,lol

I prefer to have a sound mind and straight when playing. So that my mind can word smoothly.

Some people never have a sound mind regardless. lol I mostly just play forum games, small buy-ins or S&G,s and i find I,m in a better mood with just a few beer. So I enjoy the game more.The better mood also makes me feel more optomistic of the outcome of the RACES and if i get some Bad Beats they don,t seem to bother me as much.
Note: Not smashed but just a few beer to relax the nerves and better enjoy the time.It doesn,t affect the judgement.

Quit smoking cigarettes (cold turkey) when the price reached $5 a pack.
Never smoked pot.
Maybe have one beer when playing on-line.
Never drink at the casino.
Prefer to just listen to rock n roll and doo-wop when on-line (not at casino).
