Personally I find that site a bit sensationalist. They seem to me to big up a minor story. I saw this yesterday but haven't really seen it confirmed anywhere else, yet. As with anything at the moment best not to have more than you can afford to lose on any US facing poker site.

This is difficult, I think there is an element of truth that the DOJ are targeting merge. I think this is bound to happen because it's where the most US players migrated to. The article seems to say they are going to target merge payment processors, I would think this is probably ongoing with the DOJ anyway.

I will be honest and as a non US player I started a withdrawal from merge as soon as I read this as I have no need to get mixed up in any possible action. This doesn't necessarily mean I believe it just that I have no need to risk being wrong, I think a lot of non-US players will feel this way which will probably just make any problem worse.

As before I have a lot of sympathy for US players who are again being targeted by a government department with some kind of agenda.

    Default merged and moved threads

    hi

you beat me to it Dan - Ive been working on a blog post on and off all day

bottom line is subject poker is ALOT more credible than gambling911

so I know which one I would prefer to put my money on plus SP has been right on a few things before

although I agree on slightly sensationalist angle - I think I've probably gone with the same to be honest I think this IS now the beginning of the end of the end for US online poker

DOJ Plans Action Against Merge Poker - Is It All Over For Online Poker In USA ? | 4kingpoker.com

I've pull my money off merge sites and cake sites - whether I will see it or not I dont know but I'm not going to get screwed over again trying to prop up a site so that US players have more of a chance of getting their funds

The DOJ has pretty much all Full Tilt money and doesn't seem to want to payout US players money or the non US player money (which seems at least in part to be stuck in the DOJ's pockets) -

while saying they are not stopping FT paying players - seemingly sticking to a technicality of not properly segregated accounts meaning they "think" its all full tilt's money they have is frankly now a bit ridiculous

I dont think non US players should have to run that risk a second time

And I also suggest that US players might just want to cashout where they can

lets hope that whatever legalised product that is around the corner isnt too much of a tax generator and too little of a regulator for player benifit

    cheers scrawnybob

ps. it's a bloody mess but I still blame the DOJ and the unlawful UIGEA 100% ...

no other country that has sort to legalislate / regulate and even ring fence its countries players has also taken it upon themselves to steal players money from around the world and/or bankrupt legitimate global businesses on such a scale ... more US players should be rounding on the US GOv't / DOJ IMHO

further more I still dont understand why they choose to launch a class action against FTP yet no players seem to be legally challenging the DOJ for their money !!!!!!!

Since the poker news site ran this I have seen a number of denials from Merge sites, they all state "business as usual" all the players funds are kept separate from working funds. Note separate not segregated as I understand there is a difference with this, segregated being the more preferred option from a players point of view.

As I said above I requested a withdrawal on the 9th Sept from Aced and it was in my Moneybookers account today. So credit to Merge.

I dunno what to do, I got 95% of my cash in check pending and says it could take 4 or more weeks than 10 days to recieve it.

I was gonna rebuild my $13 and now Im down to $8 so now im worried. What if I cant money back on any sites and they stay open for 6 months. THen Id be like damn should of kept my money on the site. ITs not a lot of money I built $20 into $137 so I got $105 coming back and then Im like yea I could use the cash but its not life or death. Im scarred if I cancel transfer that I might lose money but then I also hear that if the site is busted that its better to have it on the site as opposed to in transit. Maybe Im naive but DAMN print the check stick it in the mail. I dont get the 4-6 week processing and then 10 days after that, they already get a $15 fee,

BUT IM DUnno, maybe Ill see if I can work my $8 up and see, Got money on cake but that place is deserted except for cash games.

I think the issue is everytime I win money I never get it, something crazy happens, I about to get my first nice payoff off on cake thru ewallet and bam it goes into ewallet right into oblvion. NExt Playing FT building up a little and BAM they just ban me so I lose that money. At least bodog has or had a good set up in place I got my checks thru them I JUST HATE PLAYING ON THAT SITE. So now I built a roll on cake but you need $500 to get a check (WTF ) so Ill never see my cake money unless I got help (HINT HINT). So my last hope to ever see any poker money, my carbon money. BUt then I dont want to be iced out of playing online and these sites are still open a year from now. HMMM DECISIONS

Its not like a want to close all my poker options though cause, of course now, I really want to play this game.

Min cash out on Cake to Moneybookers is $50 so I may be able to help. PM me if you need to move it and as long as I'm happy that the sites not about to go tits up I can do small amounts.

    Default who knows

    hi all

the sites have understandably been quick to respond that they have segregated funds / separate funds (the replies I have seen include use of both terms)

thats fine and all to the positive - but hardly suprising that they come back with that its not like theyre going to say anything else

on the plus side I think specifically segrated player accounts is a requirement of Malta licence which Merge have recently got - so a bit more re-assuring

however as I said right back at the start when Black Friday happened

segregated or not / determined to stick with US market or not ...

the size of DOJ seizures are what determines a sites ability to survive and carry on in US and non US markets and also their ability to pay out players if things do go wrong

and afaiks nobody seems to have been prepared to challenge the DOJ so there is zero chance if Stars and FT havent - nobody will

afaiks pokerstars ability to payout US players was still more about them not have all of their money seized and not so much about segregated funds

    personally I think ...

US players have got to decide what they want to based on the remaining sites and not risk anymore than they need to

Rest of the World players really have a very simple decision that to me is increasingly more and more obvious ... pull your money and just dont play on US facing sites - you have no reason to have to take the increased risk

that I think is the most important thing to take from this scare ... I also still think there is something in this rumour for all the sites protesting and other sites shooting the rumour down

to be honest they simply dont know - they certainly dont know they are safe from the DOJ

its inevitable that the DOJ will continue to try to clean up and make more cash ... Merge is now the biggest US facing network so the most likely easiest paper trails

    cheers SB
