10 years seems like yesterday. I was working nights at the time and had just got up, made a brew and sat down to watch a bit of shite afternoon t.v. Within minutes there was a newsflash and then live pictures of the 1st tower on fire. I had unwittingly, due to night shift working, become an unfortunate witness to a moment in history that will be etched in my mind till the day i die.

More than 3000 souls (could of been 30,000) loosed themselves from the physical world in front of my weeping eyes, a grown man crying in disbelief at the murderous intentions of those that see freedom and democracy as a threat to their medieval thinking and way of life.

Heroes forfeited their lives trying to save those caught up in the scary mindset of the religious fundamentalists, whilst others leapt to their deaths to escape the fires of hell. Imagary so stark, brutal and shocking indelibly etched upon the eyes of the world forever.

Whats happening outside the USA today is a mixture of global remembrance, pitiful glorification and ignorant indifference but poker aint on my mind. I've shed another tear for my memory of 9/11 and the innocent souls that were sacrificed to madness 10 years ago today, R.I.P and lest we forget!

Greed and avarice may rule the modern democratic world in which we live but some things are more important than making a quick buck!
