Online VS Live games

Which is the better way to learn poker?

hi

I'd say both will help both games - live is slower so you dont gain the experience so fast

but live games will teach you more about understanding players / tells and how people think

you can use this then online even though you cant see people - its still people thinking behind the screen with the same fears etc - except in a live game they're less likely to want to look an idiot

you cant get the same amount of hands / experience you can online anywhere else - simply the volume of hands and situations in increase massively

however this could either mean you learn quicker - or you dont try to learn and therefore lose money quicker

I agree , with a slight exception. I think learning online first is the best way to go. you can learn the mechanics of each game and what hands are playable.

please learn on line ...... if your very new .... try play money ..... go to poker stars ....... try the sit an goes ..... play the max in sit an goes with all your play money

if you use play money at the low limits you will only learn bad habits.... always play with your max play money .....

online gets you 4 times an many hands an hour ..... than live.......

if you thinking of depositting on a site ..... dont ..... if you can make the last 25% of a sites free rolls 80% of the time ...... then your good enough to deposit..... if not wait and till you are .... you ll save a fortune

i like them both. online and live have different styles of play and each have their times where they are fun to play. gotta love playing online at work!

I totally agree, UNLESS, you can actually find someone to teach you live.. withouth charge (i.e. a friend that knows the game) i was the opposite.. I learned playing live then switched to online, with all i have gained from playing so many online hands... i couldnt imagine re-learning poker by my self ina B&M environment.
