Default Feedback / Poll - Touraments New Year - New Start ???

hi all

sorry this is a long post - but please take the time to read it and vote & give feedback

I need some feedback from all the members - the more the better by mid December to get changes etc sorted for New Year games.

On what to do with our private tournament schedule - please keep it realistic ...

Bear in mind my suggestions below are the ones I definately need feedback on as these although more costly for me are the easiest options I have come up with that are managable - anything more complicated is going to be ... well alot more hastle

Please bear in mind -

We are not going to be doing only freerolls on a daily / hourly basis at xyz site but I am putting ideas / options out to members to see what I can get setup for the new year

We cannot do different dates / times because 2 members have tea / work etc - someone will always have difficulties making a game whatever time I set it - these are the days / times I can allow to sit for 5 hours before freerolls sorting out problems etc and stay awake just about to get the results etc)

We are also not an exclusively US membership - so I have tired (maybe unsuccessfully) to balance times and sites to give something to all members

Overview - Current Leagues / Tournaments

Currently we have two 30 game leagues -

Weekly Thursday $50 freeroll League - played as a league over total of 30 games
played at 6/7 sites alternating between FullTilt, Poker.com / Carbon Poker, Bodog & PokerStars (provisional) all open to US + PKR & Titan (our most popular Euro site)

Weekly Sunday $1 buy-in with $50 added League - played as a league over 30 games
played at 6/7 sites alternating between FullTilt, Poker.com / Carbon Poker, Bodog & PokerStars (provisional) all open to US + PKR & Titan (our most popular Euro site)
the times on these were adjusted for later US games / Earlier Euro Times where possible

At the end of both 30 game leagues the overall top 3 would recieve additional
$50 1st, $30 2nd & $20 3rd

NB. we have played 13 and have 14/15/16 scheduled before christmas break

POLL OPTIONS & SUGGESTIONS

NO CHANGE

Stick to original plan with 6/7 sites until completing 30 games on each league

NEW START - Start simplified and increased new leagues in New Year

Play out the next 2/3 games before Christmas break
at PKR, Bodog & Titan - then declare early winners over the 15/16 games and payout on both leagues overall prizes - $50 1st, $30 2nd & $20 3rd

Then start new 12 game leagues as follows - (prize up money by $200 per month)

Weekly Thursday $50 Freeroll at 7pm EST (thats midnight for me and Euro players BTW)
Playing at Full Tilt Poker, PokerStars (provisional), Poker.com / Carbon & Titan (non US so would be 3pm EST) - therefore each site would have a monthly freeroll

Weekly Sunday Early $1 buy-in with $50 added game at 3pm EST - alternating between Poker.com / Carbon & Titan Poker

Weekly Sunday Late $1 buy-in with $50 added game at 7pm EST - alternating between
Full Tilt Poker & PokerStars

OVERHAUL - Overhaul current leagues continuing in New Year

Basically reduce the participating sites as above but run on continuing the 30 game format for the buy-in league but with double the number of Sunday games

these would be counted in the same 30 game buy-in league (but have additional time slot)

eg.

The freeroll league would continue on a weekly basis but at FullTilt, PokerStars (provisional), Poker.com / Carbon & Titan over 7 more games (ie the 7 weeks it would take to balance with the 14 more Buy-in games

The at the end of it - ie in 7 weeks time approx we can setup a better league format

GENERALLY INCREASING PRIZE MONEY

At the end of it all I am trying to increase the prize money as much as I can and also offer best choice of games to suit the most members I can -

Please bear in mind this will bring the total prize pools & overall winner money (ie costs to me) up to $700 per month - or $2100 over a 12 week league

Which means 4kingpoker would be giving out prize money in excess of $8400 a year

Plus we are relaunching the Forum Posting Jackpot starting in November with $60 per month ($720pa) going to our most active members ...

That has got to be worth telling all your mates about ;-)

We are also taking on board other suggestions of tournaments - and will do what we can

But it is really important to understand ALL poker forum / sites run the same way - we need to have poker players signup via our links to poker rooms get credited by them for introducing new players (even for freerolls) and buy-in tournaments must be well supported to continue with providing freerolls too ;-)

Please sign-up to any new poker rooms via our links in the reviews & check out our complete list - we have links & reviews for 40+ of the top sites

cheers scrawnybob

I like the forum Posting Jackpot, but it will also bring in a rush of poor posts such as many of the posts in here when people try to get there 5 quality posts in within 10 minutes of signing up and a freeroll. I think instead of just giving the 60 dollars away to people, you should perhaps have a freeroll for the top 50 most active posters and spread the 60 dollars around in that way. That way, if someone is winning by a landslide in the posts department, activity does not dwindle down completely when people fear there is no hope.

I think another idea would be to combine both freerolls that you are willing to add at the end of each league period. Where after the twelve tournaments, you combine the freerolls one Sunday and have the payout be 100 dollars as more of a Superbowl or highlight of the league season.

Default forum posting freeroll

hi coop

thanks for the suggestions - great to have everyone contributing ideas and putting in feedback as its all good for eploring options and ideas

we tried the forum posting freeroll idea couple of times - but we end up with either people saying I cant make xyz date or half eligible players not registering and then half the entries being a no show

I like the idea of a freeroll at the end of the league - maybe we can open that up as all those who score points on the leaderboard get to play a freeroll at the end

On the quality of the posts issue - definately the quality of the posts will count (and duff posts will get deleted) - this is the main reason why I havent gone for an increased posting requirement for freerolls - I just have more to edit out

It may well be that we withdraw the last minute posting facility - ie. just leave it to the auto lock and when the PM's go out the day before - late entries would have to wait for the next game to come up (this would take away the panic posting - as I think most people are genuine and just posting in haste)

does this seem a better way to do it ??

especially if we are going to end up with more tournaments at a narrower range of sites

cheers scrawnybob

Hey bob,
Yeah that sounds like a great idea, but I think it may push away people who are trying to get in the freeroll that night, I mean it isn't like there are freerolls everyday, they might just move on to another site. I would leave it the way it is I guess.

Default new members even late entries are good

hi coop

yes I should have been a bit clearer -

I dont have a problem with new members joining up as they have spotted a freeroll and in general the vast majority of new posters make an effort and good posts

they also go on to become great members and post more

It is only a small minority who chuck up bad posts to get the password - it's just that we tend to notice those types of posts more - I generally hack them back off

but I try to be as fair as possible - if I get a feeling they're good nice people and just feeling the pressure to post then I sort the posts out after they have been sent the password

or if I spot someone posting a couple of nice posts I shot them the password and let them know they can put a few more up later with more time - its guesswork but as you say I certainly try not to be pushing people away if they are making the effort to post (this is why the few hours before a freeroll at a bigger site is alot of work)

cheers scrawnybob

Hi guys,I really havnt been here long enough to really know what works best for the entire forum. That said,I d have to agree with coop on the poor posts. If things are really working great for the forum, why change it?,but a few minor tweaks might be the answer.Im sure the right decision will come to you!

I voted for overhaul.....

But with the sites, i would suggest sites that our open to the US also... that way more people can be in the tournament, and more challenging.

Just my opinion.

Default poll

i don't really know how to vote scrawnybob. i like you and your forum alot. the only place i have $ at is the poker.com network. i like the idea of a league with leaderboard points awarded and a freeroll at the end for the top finishers. i have participated in the past with your posting freerolls)i liked them also) but couldnt always attend the freeroll. whatever you do decide i know will be whats best cause that is why i like you so much
