hi all,
im sitting here in an internet club in russia (a hour costs 1.5 bucks) and im more than thrilled to update my situation here, as im really missing you all, and especially miss dear scrawnybob.....

well, on the 21 of december i took part at my first live no limit holdem tournament!!!! wooohooo!!!!
the buyin was 1000 rubels (1$=25 rubles). all players start with same 1500 chips, and you can re-buy as many as you want till the end of the first hour an a half (or till the fourth round of blinds i dont remember.....)
i rebuyed once (for 1000 rubles) after my aq lost allin to ak.... and since then, havent looked back. there was a player next to me who rebuyed 12!!!! times and still didnt get to the second round lol. the players were drinking beer like it was tea and i tryed to take advantage of it...
to sum this up guys
out of 35 srarting players, i finished 9th.... last at the final table when only 7 were payed....
my k lost all in to a q on the river and i was out... but, as my good friend said- poker excuses wont be accepted .

i played tight agressive and tryed to play the people, as it is said: if you cant spot the weakest player on the table after 20 minutes- then it is probably you... therefore i tryed to protect my big blind at later stages....
there was a situation when i was in bb with q8 off and loose agressive raised me bigtime from the button.... i knew he was bulling therefore i called and we went to the flop. the flop came 8 6 3... with two spades on board, i checked, the bully went allin and i called instantly. he showed q5 of spades. turn and river wasnt a spade and i doubled up on him.
but the surprise on his face, and the fact that he was amazed by me that i cracked his bluff with q8 off was worth it all!!!! did i make the right choice guys?
(i won the pot and im sure i made the right desicion)
while online its difficult to spot who are you playing against- in realife "playing the people" becomes no less important strategy than your 2 hole cards.

next tournament is tomorrow- and god damn ill be there!

Sounds like you did good. A rebuy tourney is much different than a non rebuy tourney. Most players play much looser knowing that they are gonna rebuy 3-4 times. So I'd say if you busted out 9th then you did pretty good! What was the prize money for 9th place? And the guy that you bumped off with Q8 was pretty risky but proved to be a good play. In those situations you have to be careful and try to put your opponents on a range of cards so when he pushes you post flop you can guage where you are in the hand.

Good job with the tournament, and very nice call with the pair of 8s with Q kicker. Live is truly the best poker, so much better than online.
