Cool

I agree with Zack the 2-9 off is always the one that wins, thus donk. At least when I raise with Aces or Kings and not only get called but beat.

A donkey is just those "I saw it one the WSOP so I can do it to" people. Probably never played more than 2 hands on their life.

Default a donk is

well ............ last eve i caught pocket 10s in the BB. the dealer called my 400 raise preflop.
board came Kh 10s 6h. i bet out 400. the blinds were only 25/50. the button called me.
the turn came 7h. i bet out 800. the button went all in. i knew he had the flush and told him i knew. i couldnt lay down with a set of 10s and four to a flush . i had lots of outs. i went in didnt catch my card on the river and lost. OK. i dont mind losing. i knew what i was in for. however, he was the DONK because he called my preflop raise of 400 when the blinds were only 25/50 with a 2 4 of hearts.then he called my 800 raise after the flop on a flush draw. he got lucky and caught it but what a jack ass

The DONK is most of the time the guys in front of you.
I believe that everybody is a donk, or may have heard someone calling him a donk, so for me i suspect everybody to be a donk when i seat at the table. Donks are like fireworks, making lots of noise and sparks to finally fall into oblivion.

ON A POKER TABLE EVERYONE IS A DONK EXCEPT ME !! wow that sounds pretty cool.

Its so difficult to describe a donk correctly.. i have to say all of us make donk calls pretty often so we should have the little donks and the super donks lol.

Just fyi - there was a large degree of sarcasm in my post that you are agreeing with.

Seriously ... I am pretty sure this is what a donkey looks like

Ok ... really seriously.

First - I hate the term. Hell I want to beat the crap out of whoever came up with it. Its annoying to watch "adults" call someone a donkey everytime someone goes all in pre-flop, has the advantage pre-flop .... and ends up out of the tourney.

If you are going all in in a tournament you take seriously pre-flop ... you are the donkey. I dont care if you have AA, KK, or whatever. You have just given up any say so in the hand before you have seen even a third of the cards.

Almost every single flop you have ever seen is a flop where if the someone happens to have the right two hole cards - they will beat pocket AA.

I can not fathom how people think its some unthinkable thing that AA could lose ... it happens all the time. You see it happen all the time - its probably happened to you many times actually.

AA is the only hand that you can at least say its going to take some damn lucky cards to beat. Anything else you might go all in with ... its going to take one person staying with an ace (which is very likely the case if you have a caller) .... and an ace hitting the board.

Guess what - an Ace hitting the board at some point is going to happen more than once every three hands. Simple math. If you go all in with KK - you are praying you get lucky and it doesnt happen, or you happen to get really really lucky and hit another King.

When you go all in pre-flop... you take away the ability to see the board, see that there is an ace... and realize that putting all your chips in is a mistake. You also take away the opportunity to see the flop, see no aces - and then push and now scare out the ace.... that would have beat you when an ace hits the turn or river.

And your not for staying in when you knew you were beat?

For that matter ... why is someone a jackass because they played the cards they wanted to - and won?

Because you lost?

So what if you catch the flush - you have no idea your 10 is going to trump his.... turns out that would have been the case - but you do not know that ahead of time.
