dont berate "bad" posters

hi all

this is just a heads up to you all - new members and old

please do NOT berate bad posters on the forum (or any other way thinking about it)

it is counter productive to get into a slanging match with "poor" posters or criticise their posts on the forum

a) if they are that bad they wont care what you say - others will and it doesnt look friendly

b) it creates a very negative impression to other members and may discourage good posters, new posters or old inactive members from posting for fear of being mocked or criticised

c) it creates far more work for me - I have to both delete more posts and check more member posting records

d) it means you've spent time moaning or criticsing a "poor" poster when you could be posting something that won't end up getting deleted with the original offending post

Please Please Please will those keen (and much appreciated) active members who I know are trying to do right - not post negatively on poor threads ...

if you want to help minimise the poor threads then

use the report spam / post button which is on all the threads and posts - look for the red and white triangle (top right of all posts)

this will send me an email report on thead which I will then look at and deal with

nope lol I'm not going to edit that tightly

I just want to keep things friendly and coming back and seeing some of the posts I can see where people are coming from making some of the posts about the quality of other posts

but

posting up commenting on them is IMHO even more negative to the forum than some of the "pointless" posts - we dont want to put off members who read alot but are already shy of posting - discouraging bad posting that we can all see will be more likely to discourage other posters who would make a valuable contribution

also I dont like all this to and fro over who is or isnt trying to "buck" the system to get up on the forum posting jackpot top 3 positions

so - Let that be an end to it

I'm currently going through as many posts as I can - deleting some of the maybe excessive posts in the welcome threads (granted members may not realise that I merge them into the area / regional threads) - but even so

I'm also trying to cut out some of the negativity posts

It's a real waste of some really great contributors efforts to post this sort of stuff when they've proven so eloquently that they add such great posts generally

We've now got the report spam / posts button (red and white triangle top right of all posts) which emails me the post info for me to look at - this is a much better and quicker way for us to address any issues of post quality etc

Thanks again scrawnybob........There is some spam goin on and I know I am guilty of berating those posters that are spamming. But on the other hand I have been reporting quite a bit using the report spam button as you may have noticed........

yep the reporting is much appreciated

my only concern with some of the banter is other members / new members might not get it

anyway I've been through alot of the forum and cut out / merged alot of the iffy hi / intro posts (sorry to those guys you'll just have to make a bit more effort)

but I think pointing it out bluntly and individually in threads will (and has) put off some new members from posting - as I came across a few posts where innocent bystanders thought it was them the issue was with etc

the reporting is definately the best way for passionate members to get inappropriate posts removed or members posting quality or specific posts looked at ...

the report spam / posts button is quicker for members and alot quicker for me

Allow me to get in your conversation, as I am a new member.

Or is it a new poster? Because I feel I'm tagged as one, as all new ones.
I registered some days ago while gogling for exclusive tournaments/leagues. Introduced my self, read the rules, and logged off minutes later as I'm not a dummy-poster kind of person.

Came today after getting emailed about the bumpers stick, and with more time left to stick by. I've been browsing the forum and in a natural way I've replied some topics, like at this right moment.
But whenever I replied or wanted to, I felt the strange feeling of BigBrother and judgement, "another garbage poster?". Too much pressure? I know it sounds silly and garbage but I'm tagged!!

But what brings me here is, and agreeing that there are lot of garbage posts that overpopulate 4kingspoker and make it hard to find the good ones:
(I really really hope this has'nt already be discussed)

- Isn't the monthly forum posting jackpot a "badpost" miner? I mean, if 4kingspoker took the money from post jackpot and invested in league winners /exclusive tournaments, we wouldn't have the "race-for-post" side effects... imho

- Isn't the 5 posts rule to low? 10 would discourage hopefully... (not sure about this one)
